    22V dash face pieces

10.22.jpg I am having a mold built for these dash pieces; is anyone interested in pre-ordering this 4 piece kit in gelcoat fiberglass for $350.00? Mine will be black, but colors are available.

How thick are you going to make the fiberglass? Aren't you worried about strength with that many holes that close together in a gel coated fiberglass piece. I would think you are going to have flex and gel cracks. There is a reason all the dashes and switch panels are made out of metal, plastic or other composites. Fiberglass becomes a problem when you put that many holes that close together.

x2. not going to hold up given the structural issues faced. metal stamp and die press would be a much better long term solution.

You might think about just wrapping them as a possible alternative if there are complications with the fiberglass. Its really easy and inexpensive and so far after about 2 years it has held up really well. I along with at least a couple of others on here have done this and I think it looks great.

I still haven’t gotten around to pulling the main panel but you can see the wrap on the other panels.

Morbern makes some sick other textures that I reccomend. carbon is cool. But I like some of the other pattern textures they have available for this.

If you are insistent on replacing the panels. Check this site out, a friend of mine used them on his old Mako and it turned out really nice.

That site looks VERY useful, and not just for marine applications. However, I don't see anything that says they can handle 3D panels (i.e. panels that have a "curve"). It looks like his large original curves out at its end(s). I suppose he could bend it once he gets a flat panel, but I'd be afraid of what would happen to the finish.

Yeah I would have the same concerns. I would talk to somebody at the company beforehand if I needed something that wasn't just flat and flush mounted. My friends was essentially just a flat curved rectangle with the proper holes cut out.

Looking at the 22v panels, it might work for the ignition panel, switch panel, and PP panel. I'd be wary of the curved gauge panel though.

I know this post is a few years old, but I am looking to find these pieces. Any advice or guidance on how to go about ordering them?

...or panels for an '01 21v? Any other suggestions on what to do with these old panels that are starting to show their age?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

                        ^^^That sucks!

I'm thinking I might just need to build some on my own. I was thinking about carbon fiber or something similar. I should probably reach out to Jeff (surfdad) about some "how to" on something like that.

As if I need something else to do right now.

Yeah I just took a piece of marine wood (looks/feels like pastic) and cut/sanded it to the stock shape...Really can't tell unless you compare the panel to a stock boat but it still irks me every once in a while because I know it isn't stock...

I am assuming, in order to remove these panels, you have to disconnect and remove all gauges correct?
