[QUOTE=dakota4ce;736443]This is essentially the feedback I was looking for. I want a decent level of function so that my wife can pull me without starting a dispute (as an example).
In this scenario, my understanding of SpeedSet is that the up and down arrows will alter speed by 1 mph? Zany is this ever an issue?
I think it alters by 1/2 mph. The down side is, if you turn the motor off it forgets everything.

Should not have to touch button again, IIRC, the Speed-Set will reengage at the previous set point. In the 07 version with the actual set speed displayed, I think it reengaged even id the engine was shut off. Been awhile since ive driven an 07 or 08.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Mechanical throttle lever at the helm and a special bracket in the engine bay that connects the mechanical throttle cable to the electronic throttle position sensor. The pic below is before I installed perfect pass but I was able to conect the perfect pass servo motor to the linkage at this special bracket so taht perfect pass can control the position of the sensor.

1. Old style throttle lever with cable--assume the shifter cable along with it the same for both?
2. The special "throttle buddy" bracket with TPS built into it.
Also wonder if that throttle lever and assembly just slides right into the same spot my lever/pps sensor exists in now?
Dom, or anyone, know how to source this setup parts wise?Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like bananas!

You are just moving the PPS from the throttle lever area back to the engine compartment. I think I get it now. The PPS sends a signal to the TPS in my motor--which moves the throttle body and speeds engine up. There is no way to link to the TPS directly, it is built in and receives no type of mechanical input. Just electrical.....from the PPS. Normally the PPS is attached to my lever in my helm. But in this case, we move it back to the engine bay. This sounds fairly simple. I am assuming the PPS is the same between the PCM setup you mention and the MP setup that they created in 2006. Sounds then like in 2007 they used a whole new ECM which obsoleted the PPS to TPS connection that my motor has.
Am I getting this? Any idea where to get the parts?Last edited by dakota4ce; 10-24-2014, 03:25 AM.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like bananas!

Then.....what if I replaced my throttle with something like this or any other teleflex throttle assembly? I thought this looked good because potentially the trim could be used for TAPS. Thoughts?Attached FilesTime flies like an arrow; fruit flies like bananas!

What about using this Marine Power part number:
http://marineenginedepot.com/MP/Mari...-with-Bracket/
I think its used when a newer motor is dropped in an older boat like cpropes2005
Might be worth a call to Marine Power and see if you could just drop that part in then get a mechanical throttle to replicate his setup with Perfect Pass.
EDIT: Looks like the link is for MEFI5! It might not work with your motor if its MEFI4.Mods: MLA BIG Ballast System (1800+ Custom sacs, 2 500 W705 sacs under bow), Duffy Surf Flap Mod, Trimmed Swim Deck, Top-Mount Starter

Before you do all this and spend all the money(probably 3K minimum with perfect pass) have you even tried the system out to see if it will fit your needs? For 97.9876549% of people the system works just fine. Like I said before the problem is in the failure usually and not in the operation. If and when the key pad fails your looking at around $700. It can fail 4 plus times before you get to the cost your talking about when replacing it with a caniblized system. Also consider resale. Now you have a boat with a shade tree rigged cruise system that nobody but the guy who dreamed it up understands. Unless you plan to keep the boat for a LONG time I think your better off just leaving it alone.

A new throttle control seems to be in the $300 range, bracket would be $200, cable $100, then a cruise unit (I was thinking I really like the hydrophase unit--$1089). If indeed this could be fashioned for $1600-1700, then it becomes feasible.
But I hear you. Problem is, I currently have a paddlewheel/speedometer issue right off the bat, so I could be looking at several hundred dollars just to get the system functioning in the first place. It is tempting to just run from the issues right off the bat.
However, you make a great point. I do appreciate your angle too!
Who knows what I will really do--very likely nothing if I run into any hiccups.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like bananas!
