Has anybody tried an aftermarket bucket seat?

The '01 2300V I recently bought needs new upholstery. I got a quote for it and $1000 of the cost was for the 2 captain's chairs. For less than that I can get 2 new ones with a flip up bolster (something we'd like that the current seats don't have).

    Here's what we have:

And I'm thinking about getting something like one of these:

I think the bolster would be nice when driving slow with taps on high, picking up downed riders, docking, etc. Currently we sit on one or two throwable cushions to see over the bow in those situations.

Let me know if anybody's tried it with or without success. Also, I'm open to better seats if you know of any.

    Thanks!

I put one of those seats in my last boat. Very high-quality materials, very nice seat, you will like it. The only tricky thing is trying to get it to match the upholstery. If you're going to get the rest of the upholstery done you can get it made to match that seats upholstery.

That's great to hear. Thanks for the info! Is that bolster substantial enough to sit on while driving or is it more like something to just lean against? As you can see, the height of our seats is quite different. Mine is much closer to the floor so I think we'll need to sit the bolster, not just lean back against it.

Yes, you can sit on the bolster, but if you are going to swap out the old one you can shim it up a little to give some more height. The bolster is not comfortable to sit on all day. I just use mine for docking and driving the boat on the trailer.

I always drive on the bolster. And it is uncomfortable. I actually greatly dislike my VisionAir and would love to swap it out -- but I have not gotten around to that
