    Winterizing Questions

This will be my first time winterizing my 22ve and just wanted to confirm a couple things with everyone:

    1) fogging: I've seen in a couple threads people talking about spraying the fogging oil elsewhere than the top of the motor and hand cranking. Can someone provide some more details on this. Is it through a removed spark plug?

    2) I have an electric heater, does it still need to be winterized. Again, I've seen threads talking about removing the housing and blowing out water. Does and electric heater still have water running in to it?

    3) I run the RV antifreeze up here north of the border and just wanted to see if anyone knew approximately how much the motor will take. I have 4.5 jugs of it and didn't want to run out half way in to it. How is everyone running this to the boat? Through a fake a lake with a pump? On my old DD I was able to remove the intake and add a piece of hose that ran in to a bucket which I would fill with the antifreeze. I haven't had a chance to see if I will be able to rig something similar on the new boat.

I'm hoping to get the boat finished here this weekend so I can get rid of the boat for the season. I found a video on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7Egs_ac17c ) which will help a lot as well and has been linked on this forum a few times.

    Cheers!

    1. I fog at the top (air intake) once the antifreeze is almost completely run through the engine. If it doesn't kill the engine after 15-20 seconds I just shut if off.

    3. I have a differenent engine (350 Mercruiser MPI on an 02 20v), but mine takes about 3.5 gallons before it spits it out the exhaust flappers. I've done it with a fake a lake, but now have a Perko flush kit and am able to connect a hose directly into the intake line. I've never used a pump, the engine just sucks the antifreeze through.

I always make sure I have the engine warm before running the antifreeze through to ensure the thermostat is open so it gets fully circulated.
