Adding Heater to RZ2

I throwing around the idea of adding a heater to our new boat, where would be the best place to install the heater? If under the driver side, i don't know how you'd get the tubs around the bow when the ballast bags are filled up, and if place near the engine, i plan on adding the enzo bags so don't know where the tubs would be ran with out having 1000lbs of water crush them.

Also how hard are these to install?

Heres a link to a build and there are several others on here if you search "heater". Tige installs majority of them under the drivers side helm locker. They sit towards the top of locker so your bags wouldn't or shouldn't affect it. You will lose some storage space though. You could mount back in rear by engine but I would think it would be less effective to push the hot air that far in the cheap stretch plastic hosing. I would think you would lose a lot of push and temperature by forcing it that far. The ideal place would be close to where the vents are going to be.

i looked at all the heater threads, what i don't understand is how to run the hose around the front of the bow if you have ballast tanks that fill up in there not to mention you can't exactly see in there.

You won't actually need to run it in the front bow area. They will go directly behind the steering wheel helm area in that locker. The heater hose can run down the center of the boat around the fuel tank, or even easier would be to run it under the rub rail ledge behind the seating. There are several angled brackets behind that area which are tucked clear up under the ledge. You will have to crawl under the back starboard compartment to see them and most likely use some fishing tools to do it. All of the boats electronics from battery, engine etc will be tucked up there in that area. If you need pics of the area I can try to snap some of my boat.

If you see pullout on the port AND starboard side, my guess is that they are running two heater cores. Doing a long run of the ducting would be harder and less efficient.

I have the 24ve. Search for my thread as well as others to see what they have done. I put mine under the observers seat where the ice chest is. I never used that space and the ice would melt fast. so I pulled it out and put a 4 vent heater there. I used four pull out ducts in the same location and it works great. One comes over to me, one can reach the starboard side and two for the port side. Love it in the cool days. I will search for my thread and post it.

To be safe, it would have be routed high, behind the seat backs. or, go through the bilge under the walkway. I would do a 3-outlet. One pull-out hot tube in the walkway, fixed outlet under the helm and the 3 outlet rigth behind the captains chair and make it another pull out hot tube.

I think you drill a hole in the floor under the driver's helm and then another one on the port side and run it under the floor. Make sure you have room first!
