New 24V

I just bought a 06Tige 24V and I am picking it up tomorrow! This is my first boat but my family had a boat and we spent many summer days on the lake. I can wait to get it out on the water! Any advice for the first time out with the new boat?

Tip for boating with your new Tige',,most fuel gauges don't work properly, see past forums. Top off your fuel tank and keep track of hours. Repeat this a few times to get a good average. Log your GPH. I've found this is a better way to know how full my tank is. I use 4 GPH as a rule, I have a 2005 22i w/340hp 5.7 MP

Gman's estimate is right in line with my experience for a 24V.

When surfing with 2000 pounds, it is more, when wakeboarding with no ballast and people who fall a lot, it is less.

When you go back to pick up a rider, don't do a retarded power turn sending a wall of water all of the way across the lake. You can singlehandedly destroy a small lake or cove. Just slow down and idle back to the rider, unless someone is about to run them over. I go on small lakes regularly, and it is sad to see someone send out waves in 360 degrees and mess things up. With drivers who know what they are doing, we can get 7-8 boats and still have pretty good water.

Everyone forgets the plug. Once.

Teach the wife to drive the boat and use the perfect pass. You will have lots more fun if she knows how to drive and feels comfortable.

Congrats on the new boat this was all great advice especially the plug forgot it my second time out and now my 06 22ve has a non working gas gauge! So I better start watching my hours as well.

I get between 4 and 7 gph in my 24V with the 5.7 340 hp. I use 7 gph to estimate fuel consumption on days my gas gauge does not move off full.

Some days the gas gauge functions great and others its full all day.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have a 03 22v with the Merc 5.7 MPI, I have a fuel flow meter that is accurate to .5 gallon (I check it everytime I fill up). With no ballast in the boat and 3 or 4 people I've never seen the fuel flow less than 6.5 gals per hour at wakeboard speed (18-21 mph). I've never seen less than 4.5 gals per hour with the boat on plane even when I'm the only one in the boat and not towing anyone.

I understand that the MP is a different engine from the Merc but I'm trying to figure out how the MP can have 25 more hp and use 1/2 the gas when compared to the Merc (3 gph vs 6.5 gph)?

I'm pretty conservative when I drive, and I don't do power turns to pick up my riders.

There is nothing like being out on the water with the family. I just bought my 24V last September, so I know the feeling.

Tips:

1. Check the plug. Twice. We've all been there.

2. Practive docking, preferably AWAY from a dock! When you put the boat in reverse, it WILL swing the bow to the left. Take a while to get used to. GO SLOW.

3. Be careful, wear life jackets, and have a GREAT TIME!!!

Congratulations on your new boat...you will love it. I heard from a friend at havasu springs this weekend that there was a very nice, brand new blue and white 24Ve in the park for a maiden voyage... Was that you by chance?
