Trace, I've estimated my z3 with 400 raptor in mixed sport also to get around 4 gal/hour also.

Bad or Trace: does the avx automatically adjust when you get closer to the boat or further away with the remote in your pocket or does it just allow you to adjust it manually as needed with the remote? Am contemplating if I will spend the money to upgrade my 15 to it and will obviously meet up at some point trace to get a pull behind yours before dropping the $$

The AVX does not adjust automatically while riding, the driver or person with the remote manually adjusts from 10-0.

This is all awesome info on the AVX. I think that we should start a new thread about it so people can find it easier then it buried 2 pages into trace's 2015 Z1 thread.

Wow, kinda surprised no one has any comments or questions on the AVX after all the detail pictures. Guess it's old hat now that it's out there. LOL Carry on. The boat is in my driveway and I'm headed back to LOTO on Sunday if anybody wants any specific photos of anything.

Interesting stuff! I dig that you actually check the inclinometer because my B.S./ skepticism meter was going off about the Vx sucking down the boat as you sped up when it looks like a giant trim tab. So its cool to see it actually working!

I am betting the sides of the Vx being flat also improve the wave and length. With a slight list, it would make the non-sufside near the surface longer that the same area on the surf side and create almost a surf gate effect.

Good stuff! Thanks for posting pics and info.

                  .
The sides of the current VX are flat too so I don't see having a gate effect. Also when I speed up from say 11 mph to 14 my bow rises. In fact when I dump ballast I speed up to about 14.5 which for me is the speed where the bow is highest. Maybe there's some details I'm missing but I'm still wondering if all the advertised benefits are there. I hope they are as I want the progression of the technology.

The bow rise on the new ones seemed less than previous years. I'm not sure if it's the ballast weight, VX, new taps plate or way the boat gets up to speed quicker with the new motor (which is also heavier than previous motors). I do think the angle versus % of weight concept is nice because you can adjust for people much easier. The Coanda Effect IS noticeable for sure as you get to surf speed, the boat actually pulls down into the water and the RPMs decrease. This is both visually and audibly noticeable!

All other manufacturers boats without a VX, if you speed up, the conventional wisdom is the pocket lengthens and the wave height drops. With VX it doesn't respond that way, AVX let's you find that sweet spot for whatever setup you are running. Here's 2 pics, the only difference is speed, one is 10.6 the other is 11.5 can you tell which is which?

pic 2 looks slower as the wave is a bit taller and not as long of pocket but they are extremely close in size and shape for being 1mph difference.

Anyone have pricing yet on the AVX? I mean of course how much on top of the already $3K for the old VX.
