What kind of vehicle do you tow your Z3 with?

Tow mine with a 2008 6 ltr Suburban and a 2014 Hemi Ram 2500.

I have 80k miles on my 2011 F-150 with ecoboost. It is the first Ford I have ever owned and I am sure I will have more, since its the best truck I have ever had. We load down our Z3 with lots of equipment, had to upgrade wheels and tires for the extra weight, its gotta be about 7500 lbs when loaded. Back and forth to Texas 3 times, Denver 2x, Seattle, all over. I love it and would recommend.

Nice! What kind of mileage do you get with it? I've gone from a diesel F250 (great towing but a bit much for a daily driver) to a Tahoe 5.3 (good daily driver but struggles with the 6,500 lb boat in the mountains and only gets 7'ish MPG towing). I'm looking for something that's a happy medium.

I'm right there with you, best truck I've ever owned. Hey - get a Tune on that sucker if you haven't - talk about a BEAST. The 5 Star Tune added a ton of SAFE HP and Torque - it's seriously a fast truck that can tow. I usually run around with the 93 Performance Tune, but since the Boat I'm running the 87 Tow/Performance Tune. When you go back to stock...it's a sad slow truck. Only cost me $495 for the Tuner and 3 canned tunes. Heck of a deal - best bang for your buck. Oh and I have the Injen CAI. But that's it.

I am looking at getting a Z3, do you think my Range Rover Sport will be fine for towing it between 50-150 miles each way to my local lakes? My folks have a tundra i'll borrow for my further trips.

The Range is rated for 7700 but a 23' boat is long, think it'd be fine?

Looks like you got a RZ2 instead of the Z3, I think the RZ2 is fine to tow with the Rover, as long as it's properly equiped. I pulled my RZ2 from TX to WA when I moved here almost 4 years ago. It was the 4x4 V8 4Runner with a 7,200 lbs towing and it pulled the boat up the grapevine hill outside of LA at 60 mph no problem. Big factors for towing is make sure the trailer is in good shape, tires inflated properly on the truck and trailer, level trailer, proper tongue weight and make sure the trailer brakes work and you should have no issues.

Ya I figured the smaller would be better since my wife wouldn't give up a range for a Denali anyways. When you said make sure proper tounge weight...how do I do that, isn't it what it is? I figure up a 2" rise hitch on there and with the air shocks should take care of the rest.

Some people repack the bearings every year, some do it every 2 years, I follow bearing buddies recommendation of repack every 5 years and I check the grease level every time I tow the boat, along with tire pressures.

There are a few ways to measure the tongue weight, one is to use a certified scale at a truck stop. The other way is to use a bathroom scale and a lever arm to lessen the force on the bathroom scale.

I would either get an adjustable hitch like the Andersen rapid hitch or something similar so you can lake sure the trailer and tow vehicle are level. The air suspension in the little truck will make sure the tow vehicle is level but it won't do much to make sure the trailer is level.

I measured my tongue weight by first weighing the truck alone, then weighing the truck and trailer together.

The report gives front, rear and trailer axle weights.

With some math you can figure it out. Mine was 340lbs on a dry boat.
