    What kind of vehicle do you tow your Z3 with?

    I towed my z3 to the lake it seems a little heavy I wanted to find out what you guys are towing yours with?

    Another forum member on here weighed his earlier this summer in average lake form and he was around 6700-6800 lbs. At that you are talking a properly optioned(towing options) half ton truck minimum. They are heavier than you think. A RZR is 5000 lbs on the trailer.

          We ended up trading to a Toyota Sequoia (thanks to Ewok's advice) this spring when we had out Z1 and it towed it well. We do have the Platinum Sequoia so that it has the load leveling suspension. When we traded the Z1 for our G23 I was really concerned about towing with it even though out sales rep tows with an F150EcoBoost. I am quite suprised that I am comfortable towing up to around 65 MPH and 70 if it is a flat straight run. We typically only tow 40-50 miles back and forth to a lake and in MN, we are not at high elevation. The 5.7 Toyota is a very capable motor and in Tow mode, the tranny seems to downshift at all the right times. I realize that it is not a Z3, but our boat on trailer should weigh more than the Z3. I know that we will not set any speed records and need to allow more following space for stopping, but all in all the Sequoia has handled our boats well.

              Here's my thread with the scale weight of the boat/trailer loaded to go to the lake. We tow with an Expedition EL and it tows the Z3 great. It has the tow package with bigger brakes, trans cooler, susp, etc.

                We tow our z3 through the rocky mountains regularly with a 2010 escalade. It pulls it great and stops well with the boat loaded up with gear, food etc... for our holiday. Lots of power and can easily run 70-80mph but hard on fuel while towing.

                What are you using to tow yours now ?

                    I have a lighter RZ2 but I think the 9000 lb towing capacity of a 4WD Nissan Armada is often overlooked (higher than other large SUVs). If I bought a tow vehicle today, it would be a 3/4 ton Suburban (9600 lbs) because of the recent redesign. I keep waiting for the Armadas to be updated.

                      not a z3 but not that much different with he 22ve. I was towing with a '00 ford f150 4x4 excab w/ the triton and did great up and down the mountains to the lake. I am now towing 4 miles flat to the ramp and using a '99 f250 superduty with the v10. honestly preferred the 150 but it's been converted to the winter snowmobile towing rig..
                      2012 22ve.. RIP 4/17

                        There is no longer a 3/4" Ton Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon, it would be nice. There are also rumors about a diesel possibly being dropped into the 2015 designed GM large SUV lineup. The question is, if it happens, will the North American market see it?

                          Chevy Duramax whenever possible. If not, then the wife's '11 Tahoe. The Tahoe does good towing, but can't hold a candle to the Duramax at this elevation. We're @ 5,400 ft & tow 40 miles or so over rolling hills on two lane blacktop. Difficult to pass someone without a passing lane, but will maintain 70 MPH all day long.

                          Duramax=what boat?

                            Some friends of ours have a 2012 Z3. They have towed it with a F250 diesel and a F150 Platinum with the ECO- Boost engine.They said either truck would tow it just fine.The Diesel had the edge in MPG, but if you took into consideration cost of fuel it's a wash.That is one reason I will be getting a new 2015 F150, I really don't need a diesel to tow my RZ2.
                            I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

                              I am looking at getting a Z3, do you think my Range Rover Sport will be fine for towing it between 50-150 miles each way to my local lakes? My folks have a tundra i'll borrow for my further trips.

                              The Range is rated for 7700 but a 23' boat is long, think it'd be fine?
