Boatwakes on here fixed up my boat when my ring gear went out (ironically from water store in the bilge by the previous owner) and he's helped out several on here. Look up Weber marine in new port beach. I know he's headed to the reunion at mead this weekend and is a sponsor there too. I know he's mobile but not sure if he goes out to Corona. He is someone I personally would trust. He did great work on my boat.

On purchase I found a surveyor here http://www.marinesurvey.org that knew wakeboats and it was 500 for a survey and water trial. However, I they did not do a compression check. They most inspected for condition and verified everything works and gave an overall opinion.

My boat was out of TX but I was in California buying it sight unseen so I needed a good thorough survey with pics.

It was a tige that had water left in it frequently. There were numerous areas of water related damage. Steer cable, bilge pump was covered in a film and not working, entire bilge covered in a film and had a smell in entire boat that was extremely hard to rid. Carpet in most lockers were moldy mildew smelling and nasty looking. Seats covered on sides between each one with a mold type residue that was nearly impossible to clean and took countless hours of cleaning. Some I never could rid of all the mildew. Bottom of cover covered in mildew. Boat rear transom was sun oxidized from sitting for long periods and not being used on a slip. Many other things that took me countless hours to get to that 'Like new" condition. Hints the reason I ordered and purchased my current boat new. I was tired of owning other peoples shi# they don't take care of!! Again this is just my experience with a used boat that had an owner that didn't take care of it and left water in bilge and it was over a 5-6 yr period but yours being rusty like that I can guarantee you will find a ton more wrong when you get it home and go through it!

Bottom line is if you are comfortable with the boat..buy it. You've got some great advice on here. You can take it or leave it, but it sounds to me like you have made a decision on the boat. Me I would leave it. Based on the fact that it sounds like the boat was neglected. If you leave a boat sit in the water and don't watch it to the point you don't even notice the water level dropped to the point the boat is on the bottom thats a problem. If it sits there long enough to bend the shaft and other underwater gear that is a huge problem. Imagine the stress that put on the hull. Then add in the fact that the dealer was telling you a warranty is transferable that is not. Either they are lying to get a sale or they don't know what they are talking about. Either way that would turn me off of them. At the end of the day it's going to be your boat and you have to be OK with it.

I'm listening to it all taking it all into consideration, I have a couple weeks before I have to make a permant descision, just really going to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

The starter didn't go out from water touching it, but from getting rust in it, which does worry me obvsioily, I asked tige customer service about this and they said, "Everything else is pretty much protected. The alternator is high don't hear
of them going out often wiring has not been a big issue either. "

I'm not trying to convince my self that everything is fine, just reporting what I've been told and listening and when I go back to see it just want to know what to really look for.

Have them verify they put on the correct Vx brackets.

Ring gear in bell housing is not protected. There is a small slit to allow water to drain out of it. Water can get in there and lead to a ring gear failure.

After much debating i have decided to go new! Something that is more settling about a 3 year warranty and service covered even if it does cost more!

                  Proud owner of a 2014 RZ2!

Now question! How should it cost to upgrade the wheels and tires on an extreme trailer? Do you have to get wider fenders?

Congrats on the RZ2, you're going to love it. I would spend the money upgrading the ballast first, all Tiges with Convex VX do much better with more weight. I'd also look at upgrading the prop if you are going to upgrade the ballast. Tons of threads on here about ballast installs in RZ2's and many more on props.

That's awesome!! I am glad you took the great info from all of us on here and went new or another boat at least. I guarantee that you will sleep better at night knowing you have spent that much money and that it won't have any surprises and if it does its called "warranty". Did you purchase from the same dealer that had the consignment boat?

IF that extreme is like some of the new boatmate trailers that are just the "basic bottomline" trailer you might not be able to upgrade to larger tires. I would contact them directly with your vin and they can tell you. When I ordered my current boat I luckily had called and asked boatmate if I could upgrade rims, fenders at a later date and once I told them I was going to order their basic trailer I was told it wasn't possibly as they build them a little different I guess which was a shock to me. I thought all of them could be upgraded. There was a forum on here a few weeks back about extreme trailers and upgrading them:

Yes, same dealer, he's been great actually feel like I got a good enough deal, boat has a killer sound system and since it's the 343 hp it has a 5 year motor warranty, just nice to have! He sent me some better pics.

343 hp motor on a 2014?? Better check on that. 343 was a PCM and they were dropped after 2013. Your 14 should have a 350 hp Indmar or the optional 415 hp.

Although the 2014 was officially Indmar, an early 14 could easily been built with remaining PCM inventory. Spent the weekend on an 06 Ve that was a cable driven "05 MP 340" with perfect pass, as opposed to the official 06 TBW with Tige Accu-Set. Lots of early 09's have MP, even though they had transitioned to PCM. I wouldnt sweat it either way, makes no never mind as its the same 5.7 GM block.
