My "new" to me 2005 24v

After selling my boat a couple months ago I regretted selling it so early in the season, though I think I got the most money out of it I could. We had spend the season getting our dd aztek surfable, and with good luck with a "surfgate," we decided it was time to move up. Now that the seasons is coming to an end there are a few pretty good looking deals out there. The one I have decided on is a 2005 Tige 24v. From my research, it seems as if they need a lot of weight since they are so big, so ordering Enzo or custom sacs is on my list for this winter off season. It has ballast, looks to be some sort of custom setup, but since the boat is 8 hours away from me, I will have to wait until Thursday to see it in person. Barring the lake test goes wrong and everything works and runs how it should it will be coming home next weekend. Any advice for me on ballast setup? I pretty much know what to look for with purchasing an inboard boat but is there anything specific to Tige or these 24v's that I should pay particular attention to? Here is the wave we accomplished with our Aztek, homemade "surfgate" and about 1800lbs surfcorner and 600 bow ballast.

Note the ballast setup in the Tige, looks like 750's to me??

That is a custom ballast. I would plan on replacing the hose as well, when you upgrade the ballast. @ 200+ lbs, Ive surfed a 24V with only a 400 lb sac on the surf side an 6-8 in the boat. More ballast does create a bigger, longer wave though.

Mason. Congratulations!! I love my 24V! It takes alot of weight but makes a killer wave! Are you planning on trying your surf gate on it?

Also, ^^ Chpthil designed my ballast system. Definitely hit him up when you are ready to add ballast.

That looks like a good find. The upholstery needs some love, but that isn't unusual in a nearly 10 year old boat.

Get the enzo sack and you are golden! 1 inch hose would get you a little more speed. It would be nice to know which pumps are filling it to see if you may need to budget for those as well.

Put a gate on it so we can all see what the wave is like Enzo sack doesn't fit well, spend a little more and get a custom sack made.

we gave the guy the gate that took my aztek, but I it is not at all out of the question to make one, it would have to be with actuators on this one as well. I wish I knew what size fat sacs were in this one already. We did already think about what kind of pumps were in this boat as well and know that we may be upgrading that as well with the bigger bags. I am headed to Utah on Thursday to pick it up so I will for sure know more on Friday when I get to take it out on the water for the water test. Thanks for the info that the Enzo sac doesn't fit well, custom sac it will most likely be. I will have to look at the dates for the meet, and see what I can do. 3 kids in cheerleading doesn't leave a lot of time for trips elsewhere. I am VERY excited though to get my hands on this thing and see what we can do to it this winter.

Just wait until you see how much freeboard that boat has and how well it handles the weight!

I basically copied most of Duffy's recipe. He still uses more weight than me. He has tons of experience and is always trying to have the best wave out there.

Custom sac holds somewhere around 1800 lbs in the rear.

When I first got it, I put an 1100 in the rear locker and only filled it. It was better than a lot of other boats I have been on and most people would be very happy with it. I bet with the existing ballast in there, you will be surprised at the wave vs your Direct Drive. Just run no bow ballast if you are running less than 1400 lbs back there.

Then with Mike's help I plumbed in the 1100s, the underseat sac, and two bow sacs.

It made a really good wave with my budget version of the enzo sac.

Then I went with Custom Sacs that the main difference is the extra 10" of size in the big section of the custom. Its also slightly wider and slightly taller although I am not sure how much more weight that gets you. The Enzo I think fill up completely.

I would price out a custom Sac vs the off the shelf enzo sac and make the call. Things to consider, ability to add ports for cross pumps (love my new cross pump) and additional fill or empty pumps with a custom.

Just don't do what I did and do it twice (small then big)

With the custom sacs if I only have a driver and spotter, it still makes an excellent wave

In our 24 V we ran 4 1100 lb sacs in each corner. Then we would through another 400 Lb under the seat for what ever side you want to surf. On the regular side we filled the 1100 in back corner, 1100 lb in front, filled opposite as full as it would get and rear opposite about 30%. Surf wake was awesome. It will blow you away from where you came from.

Dont mess with gates. Just list it over. With gates you always get a very mellow wake. With listing you get a really nice wake from the roost back that is all surfable.

Just so you know, Utah Lake is a very, very shallow lake. I grew up in Orem, and I spent many summers out there skiing, and I also wiped out many props on that lake as well. However, they were all on inboard/outboard, or outboard boats, I was never lucky enough to have an inboard to ski on that lake with. Anyway, with the lake being so shallow, you may not be able to get a very good surfing wave to see what the 24v can actually produce. Just try to keep that in mind when demo-ing the boat!
