what to buy,,,z1 or z3

My only real complaint with the Z1 is that it tips from side to side at speed VERY easily. My 30lb son will change the list just by walking around. Not sure if this is an issue on the Z3.

Once you load the ballast it's not as noticeable.

As Jonie said the z1 will chine lock and it's very unnerving

Make sure you get the pro ballast and last but not least plan spending some cash to upgrade the rear ballast bags and cross vent them, and make sure you have a solid dealer, not like the one I had

hello,
I'm new to this site and joined just to get opinions on which model of tige to buy.....I've been surfing for a while using a moomba lsv that I have just sold...when i was on holidays i rode behind my brother in laws 2013 z3 and fell in love! I have been trying to sell my boat ever since. now the question is...
1) can you get just as good of a wave out of the Z1 with the vx..as the z3....is it underpowered with the 343 as I am assuming i will upgrade from the pro ballast?
2) is the z3 underpowered with the 343...and can you upgrade from the 1600lbs surf ballast easily?

I couldn't believe that we surfed all day on my brothers z3 with a 409...and the fuel gauge hardly moved from the full mark...

sorry, another question ... if i build a boat through my dealer can a still haggle price?

There are some new with warranty 13 model carryover z3 out there in the Arizona area etc that are low in price and could possibly be in your range if you are able to talk the deal down. Might be worth looking into. If it were me and I was in the mid 60k range I would have to question not spending a few thousand more to get in to a brand new boat with the warranty and service included. This way your not getting someones junk they owned a season or two and neglected. Me owning a z3 am partial to it and love mine for many of the reasons stated above. But I have saw the Z1 weighted correctly and its wave is extremely hard to beat also. I think you would regret not getting the Z3 and would lose more money as you would be upgrading in a year or two. The 343 is more than enough engine in the Z3 just might want to prop it different for surfing and hole shots. Normally just my wife and kids on my Z3 with pro ballast or now called surf X and we have no issues with wave.

Either boat can be weighted to compensate for lack of ppl. The Z1 is a little cheaper in price and will require less ballast to get a huge surf wave compared to the Z3 so that will be a bit less in price also. The Z3 handles huge lake and rough chop 10X better than the Z1 and is harder to take water over the front which was extremely important in my decision making. Less water on the boat = less hours spent cleaning! Again test all of them as everyone has different needs and wants!

If you are to order there is always room in the price. Definitely do some shopping around internet etc. and see what models are going for before setting down with the dealer. That way you know your getting a deal or not. I know areas can vary by +-30k but will definitely give you something to go off.
