    2014 R20 Wakesurfing

First post and a Tige newbie here.

We just purchased a 2014 R20 with surf ballast package. We love surfing and most of the riders are regular so I'm looking for some advice on boat setup for the perfect wave. Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas?

We love the boat so far (had a 2002 Sanger V230 a few years ago, loving the Tige right now) but I cant seem to find many posts in the Forum about the R20.

And of course, I have to finish with a pic.

Thanks for the info/feedback in advance!

Squid is your source for setup on the R20. Do you have the Convex VX on your boat? Congrats on the new boat!

No Convex VX here. I've been looking at a lot of posts on them here and can't determine what I think. Is it worth the money?

            I'll definitely contact Squid.

Welcome - nice looking ride, I like how clean and simple the graphics/colors are! Regarding the VX, I don't know what the cost is to add it after the original build. We had used our Z1 with and without the VX. I have to say that the wave seemed to form faster and cleaner with the VX than without it. Not sure how important that is to you. I believe there are a few threads on here about "surf flaps" that also help, IIRC Squid posted about setting one up on his 20' prior to the VX being available. Oh yeah, great start here by posting pics of your boat, everyone loves to drool over different boats.

Here's my RZR. No VX. I have a surf flap installed. First video is stock surf ballast. Surf side full, front full. Second video is 950 surf side (I now have the w004 so total on surf side is 1020) and front full. Just me and my wife in the boat, 10.6 taps at 2 and 3.

Thanks RZRCO23! Looks like the additional weight definitely makes a difference. From what I'm seeing on here, a surf flap is somewhat of a must? I'm fairly handy and mechanically inclined, is this something I could tackle?

You could do it for sure. My install will not work for you because we have different swim deck brackets because I have a pre 2012. There are 3 or 4 different mat installs with pictures on here that will help you. Here are the pictures of mine for a reference on how I did it. The mat helps my wave alot. Especially goofy.

This is with taps at 2, which you can see really mellows the wake out. The picture is at a weird angle too so it doesn't show the depth. Moving taps to 3 and then 4 makes the face steeper and defines the lip and curles the wave over more.

If ya have the money, just throw the VX on it.... VX elongates the pocket and gives a great shape. You just need a good amount of weight with the VX. If not, the flap is great.

Well, we went out this weekend, filled the port bow and stearn completely, set TAPS between 2-4, speed at 9.4 and surfed away. Didnt really play with any other settings or speed to get it dialed in as we wanted to get to playing. We loved it. Really impressed with the wave for such an easy and quick setup. Love the boat and Speed Set is super easy so it makes my surfing experience better when the wife is driving.

The only pictures I have on me are of the little man and I surfing. He's 2 1/2 and was a little nervous but loved it. Going to turn him in to a surfing machine (I hope).20140823_235924000_iOS.jpg20140823_235918000_iOS.jpg20140823_235838000_iOS.jpg

We have the same flap as above installed on ours mainly for the goofy side wash. We have the surf pkg and fill the front completely, rear surfside completely taps at 2 or 3 on regular side and go 10.8 wave is sweet. I dont have any pics of the regular side becasue most of us are goofy but the wave is super nice on that side.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking I need to fill both bags in the bow and speed up!
