    New rims for Extreme trailer

Many of us have Extreme trailers here. It seems that Extreme went with the 14 inch generic rims on many of their trailers. I am contemplating upgrading the rims and tires. I would need to keep something about the same diameter, so that I don't have to do anything fancy to the trailer axles. The width could be increased, with the right offset, as I am considering getting some stainless fenders to increase the bling factor as well.

The problem is that the current rims are 5 X 4.5 bolt pattern and have a 3 inch center hole. The 5 X 4.5 is common enough, but it seems impossible to get it with a 3 inch hole. The 3 inch hole on the current rims is just a cheap chrome insert, so maybe the hole could be smaller, but I don't think so, at least not my much. The closest I can get is a Ford Ranger 4wd from 1983-2008 have that bolt pattern, but the hole is just 70.3 mm. Any ideas?

Tire rack does not even show the size of the center hole on many of their rims: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

I thought Extreme went out of business? Guess I was mistaken.

They were bought by a larger trailer company which includes Zieman
Mike Allen, Tigé owner since 1997

I just put 18s on my '08 extreme trailer earlier this year. I'll post some pics later.

I did go much wider and went with new 11 in steel fenders from Extreme.

              More pics would be great.

I would probably replace the fenders too. Do you know which tires you got? One problem is the load rating of even the tires to fit the rim is a little less than the load rating for a C rated trailer tire. I still think I am more likely to trust a regular tire with a load rating of 1750 pounds more than a trailer tire of 1850 pounds. But that is just me in what I have observed so far.

18s with P255/60-R60s and Extreme 11 in fenders.

Had Dennis from CMS (in Suisun CA) install them. I picked the rims and tires up from my local America's Tire shop.

Just bought the boat/trailer last year and the trailer used to drag all the time, cranked up the torsions to raise it up some. Tows great now.

Main thing with ANY trailer tire is to not use them after 5 years and always always always check the pressure. Heat will destroy them.
