Z3 Total Length - Building Garage

Current z1 owner and would love to make the switch to Z3 but our home plans limit us to 24' inside our garage. Is the swim platform easily removable on 2014-2015 z3's without VX? How long would that boat be with tongue folded? Or should we just get another Z1 with Convex?

My 15 Z3 with convex attached is 308" or 25'6" long
110" or 9'1.6" wide on trailer at widest point
90" or 7.5' tall at the tallest point with the tower folded
I have a 26.5' long 10' wide x 8' tall garage door, attached to my house when we built and specifically made it oversized and this z3 fills it to the max!! These measurements aren't exact so give or take an inch but are close on the boat that is as I can't get to the back of my boat in the garage. The convex removes yes but the 15 model has a seal on it and I wouldn't want to ruin the seal by removing each time and it would be a pain also! Not to talk you out of the z3 but I'm like you when I considered the z3 upgrade and was lucky it fit or I would've been building another garage as I love my Z3! hope this helps

The platform without VX should be easy to remove. most of them are just 2 pins and pull up on them. It will still be a tight fit if you don't have an 8Ft tall by 10' wide garage door

Thanks JLG. I guess it comes down to whether to get the Z3 without VX and hope it fits by pulling the platform 6-8 times per month. Or get the Z1 with VX and only have to fold the tower/tongue.

You could always hang it out the front of garage!! LOL Damn covenants! I don't think I'd order a z3 without the convex as many of the pros I've talked to love and absolutely believe it improves the wake on the newer boats. Might talk to your dealer and ask about removal of the platform with VX get their opinion don't just take my word for not wanting to remove it. I know mine would've been removed the day I brought mine home if it wouldn't have fit. I had to remove my work bench and other stuff to fit it as my 22ve had plenty of space behind it and I could use my walk in door behind the 22ve also. Crazy how much larger the z3 is. I have to remove my tower racks to fold tower completely to fit under the 8ft door also.

Assuming we go route of Z3 with no VX, will 24' work with the platform folded?

I would say 24ft minimum would fit a z3. Just make sure when building that the measurement is from finished interior wall to garage door and not the blue print spec they give you as most of them are off the concrete stem walls and not the wall when sheeted etc. You have to remember that you will still have the taps plate that sticks out a bit but I would think 24ft should fit. Where are you located and is there a dealer that might let you measure and or put one in your garage before purchase? Possibly someone on your lake with one?

We are in OKC. Close dealers don't have Z3s in stock. Builder ensures 24' interior. Do you have the 18 inch wheels?

I would cut a hole in the wall and use the deck as a bookshelf on the other side of the wall. Love my Z3 with vx.

                      Another possibility to consider.....
Is there a self-storage place near you or your favorite body of water? My neighbors keep their boats someplace besides their residences and I've seen boats parked at self-storage locations.

PS...I love my '14 Z3 with VX, but it sits on a lift at the lake house year-round.

Let me tell you , the platform with out the VX is a handful , it is NOT a one person job , try removing the one you have now by yourself !! With the VX try probably three guys

yes they are 18" so it will be a bit taller than stock 14" trailer but not sure on height difference.

X2 on that LOL. I like your style. Yes I would've built a garage around the boat for sure as I love my Z3 with convex also. Convex would have to be a PIA to remove!!

I removed my vx and platform once.... just to see how. It was a major pain. You either need a friend to help or a rigging/pulley system.

You can remove it in once piece (I think) or as two pieces (which I did). If I had to add and remove these each time I went out, I would go out less.

I went with a Z1 for this reason... even though I liked the bigger boats.
