I would say no. I would like to get one to reduce exhaust noise.

Fresh Air Exhaust is the quietest solution for your boat. Recent third party testing showed a noise reduction of 8 to 9 db. FAE has been certified for use with the stringent noise level reductions of the European Union.

While catalytic converters substantially reduce the levels of dangerous gases, you are still breathing in the exhaust fumes for a gas engine that include carcinogenic compounds. We’d rather you breathe FRESH AIR!

The FAE is easily the best upgrade I have done to our boat:
-Makes it easy to talk in the boat
-Safer /less carbon monoxide/ no exhaust fumes at low speed
-Stereo sounds so much better

Was a relatively easy install for a rookie like me.
