Is there a better prop out there for me? 2013 RZR

    All,

I have a Acme 1631 4 blade 13.5x14.25 - 1.25" prop on my RZR (343 PCM). It does well getting on plane 95% of the time. It struggles when I have 10 people in the boat and full ballast but I guess I'm not suprised. I always holeshot with the taps at 1 to start unless surfing and this works well. Top speed is maybe 39mph loaded with the surf bimini up and about 41mph max with just me. This is off the TT which uses a paddle wheel I think? I have yet to compare to my GPS app but will if needed.

The only issue I have is sometimes (and it seems random) is the prop appears to cavitate at times when surfing with full ballast (minus opposite side rear). It basically slips a bit and the boat chugs for a second. I believe this is the prop but I could be wrong.

I guess I'm ok with this top speed though who doesn't like to go faster.

I'm also ok with the holeshot, ability to hold speeds, and the fact that it never blows out.

Overall satisfied but perhaps there is a better match out there for me? I know on my previous I/O switching to a 5 blade stainless high five made a WORLD of difference and I did not lose any top speed. It just slipped much less and was a much better match for the boat.

Basically I'm looking for feedback from R20/RZR owners that switched and have run different props and can give me feedback. I need a spare still anyway!

I have the Acme 1235 Prop - soooo much better than the stock one. I have the same engine as well. I've had 14 people in the boat and it pulls them out of the water really well.

I run the 1617. I have the PCM 343 as well and I'm at altitude and it performs like a champ. It's a 14 x 13.75 so a little different from what your running. We just took our boat to LOTO and I had to be careful with the RPM's when at cruising speeds but for operation under a load it's been great.

The 1235 will not perform better than the stock prop on your RZR. Trust me, I've tried it and about 5 other props.

The only other thing you can do is modify the mounting tab on the TAPS plate so that it goes lower in the water and/or add more now weight.

Do you have an R20/RZR? Why the rpm issue? Did you pitch down when you went to the 1617?

Thanks! Just the feedback I was looking for to save me time. Have you run the 1617?

I wouldn't call it an RPM issue, just a factor of using a prop that is for high elevation/heavily weighted RZR. The pitch is .25 different than your current prop and according to the Acme website the cup is different than your current prop at .105. I think LOTO is like 1000 feet compared to my usual body of water at 5400 feet. In my 11 RZR the RPM's tach out at 6000. Running 30mph in LOTO I was right at 4000 ish and any 5mph change up or down was about 500 rpms. I think it's pretty consistent with with what 1235 users see in reduced speed. I could run 40 ish and still be safe here in Denver RPM wise but If I ran that speed at 1000 feet I'd probably spin the prop way to fast and be in a dangerous RPM range. In Denver I never have to worry about it cause our body's of water are so small I never come close to high cruising speeds but at a place like LOTO there's lots of water to cover and it would change my prop selection.

What is your WOT RPM with the 1631? Going down in pitch would help the hole shot, but how much depends on WOT RPM.
