No Tige Surf 'System'

NSS might not, but gate systems would. They would work well on our hulls since ours are pretty deep v's. The older nautiques are a wakeboard hull and it wouldn't work as well.

Aftermarket systems have to be in the works. It would be so easy to make.

I'm wondering if patent issues could be an issue. As soon as someone makes money off of it, I suspect some lawyers would come calling to shut it down. DIY guys in their garages are not worth the trouble, but a true blue marketed system would probably grab some attention.

The lawsuits are already flying over trimtab-based systems. Malibu's second patent in this area just issued recently, and they've filed suit against CorrectCraft (Nautique). Apparently Nautique went after Malibu for patent infringement some years back, and now it's payback time. Bad blood between those two companies. This industry has matured to the point where you need patent protection for new development.

Yeah, gotta change it enough for it to not be that similar. But how? Anyone? I like moombas flow system the best. Simple and easy. I will probably build a gate system next spring if nobody comes out with one on the market. It would be nice for 80% of my friends to surf a flatter wave. I get people on my boat all the time that can't surf my wave and have been surfing for years. The tige wave is just very different.

So if any of you guys were to try to make an aftermarket system for their boat, which would you go with? Gate type system or more like the NSS?

I will put this thought here. I normally ride my R20 w/ VX and Mike's 770lb bags in the rear. I do not have much experience with other boats and surf setups, but i can say with confidence that my wake looks and rides pretty killer. I love it.

Last weekend i rode an Axis A20 w/ surfgate - internal ballast plus 750's in each locker, evenly weighted. The owner set it up for me to try that day so we weren't worried about all the advantages of quickly switching sides or not listing the boat. Right away I noticed it was a bit different, but the biggest thing I noticed to my surprise was more "push" in the pocket than my R20. Quite a bit more, that wake was rock solid! Another noticeable difference was how other rollers in the lake didn't seem to affect the surf wave as much as the R20. This could be circumstantial, but the lake was very busy and I could surf all day behind that thing. However, one big disadvantage was the length of the pocket, not nearly as long or clean as the R20.

Now perhaps both boats could be further dialed in to accomidate shortcomings, but the point is for a strictly wave review I always thought in the 20 foot surf category the R20/RZR was way ahead of anything else (especially with the VX), but I had a lot of fun surfing that A20! I'll also say that a friend's wife cannot surf ropeless behind our R20, but could ride the A20 pretty easily.

Supreme - what lakes are you normally on? I live on the east side of the cities, but we go all over. Starting to see more Tige's in the area since the new dealership a few years ago.

We are all over the place as well, I think we’ve put a thousand miles on the trailer this year! The usual suspects are on the west side: Long Lake, Minnetonka and Medicine. Crazy enough Long Lake is still no wake. If you ever see a grey R20 with white tower stop and say hi!

I actually have this problem as well. I don't have the VX but my wake is definitely superior to my buddies Mastercraft. Tige's have a very vertical face so the guys who can really rip and are seasoned surfers like my wake more but the casual people who come out with us that don't have that skill level (they can ride rope less but are beginners for all intensive purposes) prefer not to ride my wake and like the more mellow faced wake of the Mastecraft.

Isn't that funny I was just out last weekend in a 2014 mc X2 with gen2 and I didn't find the wake at all mellow , in fact I believe it was downright dangerous as the sweet spot was about 6" away from the platform ....

who wants to ride a rounded top wave.... that's not a wave, its a water hill. Tige's have an actual wave shape to them, that's why surfing them is kick ***. MY tige has strong push through out the entire wave. There are no real sweet spots, the whole wave is a sweet spot.

My buddies boat is a 09 X-2 without gen 2. Comparing apples to oranges with a 14 with gen 2. Ill take my RZR over any x2 any day and twice on Sunday.

And probably save 25k in the process , the mc is over priced , that boat was 99k msrp 94k was the deal , it had no tower speakers , no sub , etc , like that's crazy
