So what you're saying is simply moving them up on the hull is as effective as cross-draining them? If so that seems like the better route

Someone needs to engineer a solution where water comes out the same side.
I have found that a 90* T-hull turned up works to prevent the passive draining through the vent and drain lines. I have been supplying these will all our from-scratch ballast installs. But, when adding tall surf sacs in place of the shorter OEM surf sacs, crossing the drain lines is simpler than replacing the T-hull. A check-valve works, but restricts the drain flow as well as costs about the same as the hose needed to cross.

This is not just forward, but also up above the rub rail, seems like a good solution, but not sure I like the look of it.

I've definitely heard that from people who have only seen photos. But everyone who has seen it in person has complimented on it. I took care to line them up with the factory cleat, and get the spacing just right, so they look as good as possible. And putting them above the rub rail also makes the output streams visible from the driver's seat, as noted above.

When we're deballasting the streams shoot above horizontal, and several people have suggested we put LED's inside so the streams glow with color at dusk. They are also not the only fitting above the rub rail - the fuel caps on both sides are there, the cleats on both sides are there, etc. So it's not breaking up any sight lines. I might also mention that I always put my registration letters below the rub rail. I consider nice shiny thruhulls to be more attractive than three inch high state-mandated characters, so I put the shiny stuff up above and hide the ugly stuff down below.

When designing this system I read about all of the passive draining problems people were having. I gave it a lot of thought and finally let the Engineer in me win the argument: Go for the best functionality. If I were doing it over again, I would do the same, with the possible change that I might put the rears above the rub rail back over the lockers. That would give you the height (to prevent passive draining) while shortening the hoses (to reduce frictional losses).

There is no question it looks like you did a first class job, so props there. I just really like the look of those below the rub rail. Maybe some day I would get a good look of your boat in person and change my mind. ;-)

Thanks! Seriously, that means a lot considering all the top-notch stuff you and your crew crank out!

You're welcome here anytime, and we do get down your way occasionally (though not usually towing the boat).

Another thought: It might be that putting them in that forward location, but below the rub rail, would still leave them above the fat sacs. My original reason for moving them forward was because when the boat is ballasted the front will, by definition, be above the rear. Then I got into the storage lockers and realized that putting them up high would not only guarantee they'd be high enough, but also avoid the thruhulls snagging and tearing at stuff stowed in the lockers. But if you wanted them lower, I bet they'd still be high enough to prevent passive draining... best of both worlds!

I'm not a fan of listed boats. I understand it's the most optimal way to get a good wake on the Tiges but there's got to be a better way. For beginner and intermediate surfers an unlisted boat with some type of surf system would be ideal - then you could compromise comfort and repositioning to get the big wave going. Otherwise, give me an unlisted boat with a surf system all day everyday so I can just enjoy the boat and people on it vs telling them "hey sit here, wait, try here - no nevermind go back".

That's the difference between a 60k boat and a 130k boat , and why we have choice , for 60k and a listed boat for that few hours you use it for that , otherwise it's empty and your using it as a activity center

New Tige Z3 is not a $60k boat (though it is a lot less than a G23). And it is listed (but apparently not nearly as much). So it does not come down to just $$.

Oh Lord I know how Much a z3 is , but in was referring to is you can buy a 60k value boat and get a good wake without all the bells and whistles and put money in the bank , or pay 120k and get the same wake and all the bells and whistles and the headache that goes with all them, so for me I will spend the 60k list the boat for that few hours of fun , and take the money i save and buy a new dodge hellcat !!!

I hear ya! For me, I will sit on my heavily listed pristine 2009 RZ2 for a few more seasons. Plan was 10 seasons ... might think about new after 8 seasons. Riding that G23 last week really got me thinking about ease of use though ...

oh man i hear yuh, i tested a nice SAN210 with the NSS and the fit and finish was so slick, but i would say the Supreme S21 i rode behind on sunday produced a much nicer wake back there, and yes the back corner is dragging in the water , but 100k vs 68k all taxes in, has to make yuh think ....

I took video of my buddy's 2013 Malibu 24 MXZ today with Surf Gate because he has it pretty dialed in... I am not a Malibu owner, I have a G23... but you be the judge of the video... by the way... Nautique with NSS does not list to one side... I guess someone could if they wanted but it is not necessary to get the desired results. I will share video of my wave soon...
