Wicked C' I love it when you talk 'retarded wave' and stuff. My girlfreind says length and size is important too.

.. What's his name posted some sick RZ2 wave vids last week...looked friggen' shoulder high from the end of his 12 foot Go Pro'. I keep those vids on my phone...and show them to anyone on Tahoe who dares to say their wave is 'BIG'...

Cheap' sorry to say I can't afford a Z3..sigh...Probably can't afford a new Centurion either. A used RZ2..that is def' within my budget. 50k is the most I can part with as I'm in the process of buying a little condo..in a place called San Jose Del Cabo (they got real surf there and plenty of it right outside your front door)

My only chance to buy one of those new fancy super boats is if I hit the jackpot on the dollar slots in RENO...I play them every payday. I pulled 1200 on EASTER...Most of the time they just eat my $$ though..sigh..... Last Jackpot was 14 meelin' dollars!!!

I have been a bigtime Tige fan since getting our boat 5 yrs ago. It does well for surfing and has a good wave yet for the most part has been the only boat we've surfed so I had no view of other boats other than TnVolGrad 2012 RZ2 which does even better.

But as one of the organizers for Southern Surfest in which 8 boats participated, I now have a very different view and want to share here. I got to ride some of the boats and saw all the reviews plus got first hand input from both wife and son plus a few riders who flipped out each day w their favs. It was a truly animated dinner time each day. All boats were setup bigtime for the event and truly performed well and we had several boats w gate systems including Supra (Swell), Malibu (SurfGate) , Nautique (NSS) and Moomba with the Flow Surf. Most interestingly per the rider reviews, 3 of the top four boats were gate boats. Malibu was 1st edging the Nautique by tenths, then Centurion (ballast only) and Supra close fourth. The scoring was very very close in this grouping. All used ballast in big way but the boats are level or nearly so.

I now like gate boats for several reasons: almost no list or very little lean. My wife really dislikes the boat lean but puts up with it - this is a real big issue for lots of folks. The wave quality ranged from super good to gigantically awesome per the ratings. Depending on the controls, wave can be tuned in realtime while underway. The transfer switch from one side to another is way cool. I know some folks think its hokey and I did too at first but when u see it and see your son do it and hear your buds – my mind got changed. We have now seen the move in competition and its way cool to see a rider pop tricks on regular side, signal the driver and go goofy then do airs on that side then switch back. WAY COOL.

I predict its the future of the sport and we’ll see in more competitions because owners are catching on plus people really like a level boat.

Yes, I know the Nautique is much more costly boat and many will comment vigorously on that topic – oh well but Malibu and Supra are very very good boats at lower price tiers so let the fun go forward.

We could very well see transfer tricks at Wakesurf Nationals at Callaway this year since Nautique is the official boat and the G23 will be there to pull. Since the CWSA circuit is predominantly sponsored by Centurion that does not have a surf system (so far) it could be interesting to see what happens.

hey you can't post that without pics!! haha...I'm sure every one here would love to see these big 'gate' waves

Centurion DOES have a surf system of sorts...it's called CATS and it has the awesome ability to shape the wave on the fly instantly (what other boat does that??none). I think Id rather have that than a swinging gate/quick switch feature. BUT I might change my mind if you were to post up some ginormous "gate" dual wave vids..

Just my opinion>the lean never bothered anyone in my crew. There's plenty of freeboard..

..but if you think about it a gate boat with massive ballast on both sides might be EASIER to sink since HALF the boat would already be close to the water....say someone stopped too quick and all that wash came over the stern...yikes!!

BUT if you post some killer dual gate waves then all bets are off. It's all about the wave right?...

I agree. What the difference with 1400 lbs between the port and STBD lockers creating a bow-hi attitude and 1400 lbs on one side and the boat is listed over. Neither is ideal in terms of a perfectly safe operation boat, but how is one safer than the other?

Centurion added a trim tab too..I believe. Not that I'm in love with Centurion. Duff' says they don't have alot of freeboard. That alone scares the crap outta me..

I can't seem to get by that CATS feature though...imagine just having that power to MAKE your own custom wave

Maybe TIGE should add a hydralic rudder like that> Z3 with that...get the fk' outta here!!!

When you adjust cats from center, it reduces push. Seen that first hand. The FS22 doesn't have any freeboard, but the FS44 does, very deep.

Everyone I know that surfs hard that has a Nautique, Supra, list there boats and use system to help shape.

                          Just some food for thought.

reduces push? say it aint so Rag!! Why do think that would happen? I wish someone would post up some wave vids from all these new boats..

Centurion FS44? I did see one new Centurion that looked like it had some serious freeboard...it was white with only the yellow Centurion logo on the side. I like that simple look..

Moosex, after spending a week on your beautiful Tahoe lake and seeing how much the altitude up there kills engine power (had to move weight forward with my Acme 1617 prop) , you are going to need a monster engine with any surf system with the amount of weight you are going to want to put in. The surf gate boats that are sacked out need big motors and aren't at tahoe elevation.

it's a power robbing biach of a lake. we just pitched our 2179 down to 10 and it's still not firing out of the hole. 343 sucks at 6250!. Give me one of those big blocks with a supercharger...550
