What to do with a new boat that will not run!!!

Have you tried the fuel cap? Maybe the tank is not venting and starving the engine for fuel.

That was a problem on a custom street bike I had, I would think with two gas fills it should vent??
Is there a breather to the tank also?

Fuel injections systems are really pretty basic and should be easy to diagnose. If it is actually intermittent low fuel pressure then only a few things. Intermittent fuel pump failure/shutdown is very unlikely. The fuel pump does rely on a signal from the ECU to stay on once the engine is running. This is common to all FI systems as a matter of safety. If the pump is actually turned off, it is unlikely you would be able to start the engine at all, much less run with reduced power. Intermittant injector problems are very unusual and will not affect fuel pressure. They can overheat and fail, but if one fails, engine will run, but poorly. Fuel pressure regulators will impact fuel rail pressure but failure is very rare. They won't get better by sitting around cooling off. Bad throttle position sensor connection will make the engine run very poorly and can be intermittent, but will have no impact on fuel pressure. Hopefully the dealer has checked fuel filters for any type of debri. Again, if you are actually losing fuel pressure, I would check the fuel tank for a foreign object. I have seen this exact same problem on race cars with some foreign material in the cell. Engine would run until the fuel suction line became blocked/plugged. Once the engine was off, debri would move around in the tank, then let start again and eventuall find its way back and starve fuel once again. Object was too big to enter the line or filter.

One of the fuel pumps always runs a few seconds when to the key is turned on, so I assume it's built pressure, then stops when the pressure is there.

I get this even when it will not restart so I don't think it's lacking fuel to the pump?

Damn I love this boat otherwise!!!!

They are comming down to pick it up now, hope it's fixed soon or they offer a loaner.

When my 409 let go last year I contacted Tige and they went above and beyond to send a guy from the factory to replace it all the way up here in Canada. I suggest contacting Tige directly and express your concerns of a short season and disappointment in your new boat. I was in exactly your position last year. Good luck and the z3 is an incredible boat once you get everything sorted out !

What happened to it?

My boat is heading back to the dealer, they just picked it up.

It was surging and running bad just getting it to the launch?? First time doing that!!

I hope the engine hasn't need damaged from whatever is going on.

Yes they replaced mine with a long block but my failure was catastrophic. The engine was ir repairable from what it as told. I was very disappointed when that happened with only 30 hours on the boat and was having thoughts of selling, trading, sinking or burning the boat. In the end I stuck with it and we now have 110 hours on the boat absolutely love it. I finally have confidence in the boat that it will not leave me stranded. The surf wave is incredible and I enjoy every chance we get to use it.

Like I said good luck and I hope it's a simple fix.

Sounds like the same problem we had with our 2014 R20 with the 335HP Indmar engine. The engine would sputter and then die or almost die. We also replaced the high pressure fuel pump. Unless dealer is in the lake and actually experience the problem it won't happen while the boat is hooked up to a hose. My neighbour/mechanic was out with us when it happened after he changed the fuel pump. Basically all he said was it was starving for fuel. He went from fuel pump and worked his way back. Filter had been changed already so went to tank. Unscrewed fitting into tank and took out pick up tube and checked out the screen on end of tube. Plugged! Rusted! Removed it and hasn't had a problem since. The screen is the size of a thimble and in my opinion is not required. Fuel filter will keep junk out of engine. If not put an inline filter on the fuel line. I hope this helps.

Just an FYI, fixed it in the lake. Kids were still in tube and we were on our way in 10 min.
Dealer was great but to far away.

I called Harvey at Tige and he was not aware of the problems I was having, he said he will call skipper buds and offer anything they need.

He looked up my vin and told me it was an early 2014, maybe it has the rusty plugged fuel tank pick up also from sitting 7 months before prepping??

Hmmmmmm talking about blowing a gasket , I got rid of my tige because it took over a month and a half to fix all the little issues , but push the dealer , like a few guys said , tell them to give you a loaner , that should make them fix it faster !!!.
