Have we even seen a decent wave out of the ASR yet?

Just spent some time with a pro wakesurfer this last weekend. We had the chance to do a demo on a G23 and the pro told the dealership to fill only the rear stock ballast (both sides). No belly and no extra sacs. Wave was insane and adjustable with NSS from almost flat to way too steep. He said people are overweighting their G's when it's really not necessary. No need to list that boat.

Thanks for confirming my decision to make the switch(as if my satisfaction to date didn't already do so). Now I just have to get out and set up our G this way and maybe post a few vids

Thanks for the pro rider shared tips harv - glad to catch it here on the Tige forum

I guess nobody in the boat had a camera to see that elusive goofy side wave.
              Be excellent to one another.

Man, I am disliking more and more listed boats, look at that mammoth tilted over. Looks ridiculous.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but I have a lot of first hand experience with a 2014 ASR you might be interested - it doesn't sound like anyone has dialed this thing in yet...

I rode all summer on a 2014 ASR surfing on the goofy side. It is my friend's boat but I've used it as much as he does which was at least once or twice per week all summer. He had a 2012 RZ2 previously and it surfed well on both sides, although on the goofy side it required a bit more weight than the regular side to get a nice wave. The ASR has been a similar experience but once we got it weighted right the wave is significantly better than the RZ2, larger and longer with more noticable push from farther back. Neither boat has had the VX.

The ASR's goofy wave was horrible with the stock setup and was unrideable when he got the boat, the regular side looked ok with the stock setup but not great. The weight distribution made a huge difference - adding a 600 lb. fatsac to the bow seating area made the surf wave way better on both sides - we just roll it over to the side that is being surfed. On the regular side that was all it needed to make a large, clean surf wave, along with the stock ballast and taps at 7. For the goofy side we add another 400lb fatsac to the back corner locker which makes the wave bigger and cleaner. There is still a bit of prop wash on the goofy side but the wave is great, definitely better than the RZ2 was, which was pretty good. The RZ2's goofy wave was garbage with the stock setup at first too - we added a 400 lb sac and some additional weights to the goofy side of that boat as well. An older R20 was a similar story... Goofy has never been good with the stock setup on any of these boats.

I haven't surfed behind a G23 so I can't compare, but compared to a 2012 RZ2 and a 2010 R20, the ASR surf wave is a beast - once it's dialed in. I can't wait until we get the surf X system installed but sadly we are running out of decent weather in BC :-( we may have to wait until next year.

Sadly there is no installing the Surf X on a 2014 boat or an ASR. ASR does not use piggy back bags to hard tanks like all the other boats. Its single point bags with reversible pumps. Can't piggy back a bag into a bag as far as I know. 2015 ASR has a different ballast than all the other boats just like the 14 had. There is no retrofit on surf X or AVX or any of the other new surf stuff for 2015 to a 2014 boat. Your 2014 with medallion based touch screen system couldn't control any of it even if installed.

The Wakeboard wake and driveability under ballast was the most impressive thing I have ever seen from a boat. The Wakesurf wake was also impressive. It's different than what we are used to but the wave was very ocean like. It had power not just up and down the wake but also perpendicular into the flats a very long ways. You could even surf the wash way back. It was impressive to say the least. This the first boat wake I have used where you could have a shot at doing a snap back like in an ocean wave and keep riding. I am still in awe. We tested both sides with and with out the VX.

Does the ASR option out with fishing pole holders?

Interesting point about the retrofit - I thought that may be an issue seeing the 2015s with the new Tige Touch system. That's not the story we are getting from our local dealer and talking to Tige's CEO directly on the phone. Apparently they have something in mind for the 2014s but I'm not sure exactly what. They told us not to bother with the 2014 VX attatchment because they redesigned it and would be sending us a new system to retro fit this fall - the conversation happened about a week before the official announcement of the Surf X system so they must have had a plan at that point, but who knows...

There is going to be a redesigned VX for the 14 ASR but thats it. It will be a fixed VX like any other 14 would have. With the new touch system being murphy and you having a 14 with medallion there is no way for you to control the AVX. You could technically upgrade any other boat in the line to Surf X ballast bags(its just different bags), but not the ASR. Reason being ASR uses bags below the floor. So you can't add a bag above it and drain it into the existing bags in a piggy back system like the bag/ tank system in all the other boats. Bags draining into bags doesn't work. Now you can add a bag in the locker and plumb it in somehow. But you can always do that to any boat. So you will see a better performing fixed VX for your boat, but thats about it.
