Best mod I've ever installed

I was so sick of standing water in my hull. I've tried parking on a steep hill and that still doesn't get it plus it's a pain in the butt to find a steep hill when you can't sit on the launch for a few. After installing a thru hull for my ballast I felt confident to drill another hole in a perfectly good boat and install this $15 dollar drain. Best $15 I've ever spent period. It is so nice to pull that plug and get home to a dry engine compartment. I highly recommend this if you have a similar problem with your VE as I had.

Awesome! Do you have a picture of where you put it? And yes on my v it's a problem getting all the water out.

For most Tige's the problem is that there is no access to the low point on the hull. Where did you put it? Unless of course you put it in upside down and use the handle sort of as a 'supplemental removable tracking fin system'. Lots of guys would have done this already if they had access to the point where the water collects.

I installed a unit exactly like that in my Malibu, but there is a nice access panel right next to the driver's seat.

The standing water in my bilge is one thing that bothers the crap out of me. I wish Tigé installed a plug that got all the water out.

This bothers me too, but IIRC my hull's keel isn't flat in the area where it pools. It's a "V" and these drains need a flat spot. If you mount to one side, you won't drain all of the water. I have a solution for this but haven't prototyped it yet. I'll report back here when I do.

I'll post some pics when I'm back in town. It's installed between the v drive and the gas tank. I tilt the seat/engine cover to get to it, and it just takes a few seconds. What WA says is correct, however mine is slightly off to the side and get about 90% of the standing water if I let it drain on its own. With the plug pulled and the drive home I get almost all of the water out and nature does the rest.

I seem to recall seeing a thread on your new boat, but forgot which one it is now. It would be nice for all owners to have it in the profile summary that appears on your posts next to your post count, location etc.

I did not realize that a drain in that location would be enough lower to actually make any difference. I think most of us think it would have to be in the center, in front of the gas tank.

The low spot in my 24Ve is right under the front of the v-drive, between the rear of the fuel tank and the v-drive. I have ballast pumps there but have left some room for a solution to this problem.

Just got back from a few days at Flaming Gorge. Maybe the most beautiful lake I've ever been on. This drain is amazing and I highly recommend. Here is a pic.

Yep, thats exactly where my 2007 RZ2 would collect water. Wish I had this on my 2014. The water from my cooler drains directly into the bilge and the bilge pump cant reach it.

I bought one but I haven't installed it yet. Did you put in bronze screws? Did you cut out the notch that it looks like it needs after you cut the thru hull or did you cut it bigger and just fill the void with 5200/4200 sealant?

It appears most of the water will pool there when my boat is off the truck and jacked up slightly.

I used brass screws, hole saw and then yes, I notched it with my ryobi cordless rotary saw. Used 3m marine sealant, gooped it in, around, and from both sides and done in 30 minutes. Great feeling of accomplishment when you pull that drain and all the water comes pouring out.
