I've been curious, and I've seen a few posts about the real weight of these boats, so I pulled our Z3 over to a certified scale this morning, and thought I'd share the results. Couple of things to point out:
1. My tank was as full as I could get it, so I'm counting it as 302# (6.3# per gallon)
2. I had on-board 6 wakesurf boards, tool bag, plastic bucket with spare parts, 6 neoprene PFD's, towels, 25# anchor, small cooler (takes up half of built in cooler) with food/water, and some other small junk.
3. The boat is equipped with Alpha Z, two REV10's, and whatever speakers and amps that come with the tower of power, so I have the sub, 2 or 3 amps, etc (you can tell how much I'm into the stereo....don't even know what I have), dual batteries, VX, heater, shower, pro ballast with enzo sacs. I've also added five additional pumps over the stock configuration, surf bimini, Samson board racks. I have no idea how much this stuff weighs.....
4. I first weighed the whole rig (truck and boat/trailer), then unhooked the boat and weighed the truck by itself. The numbers below are just the boat/trailer. It was 460# tongue weight, by the way.
Total boat and trailer weighed in at 6,780#, so the boat itself would be about 5,480# (subtract 1,250 for trailer, 50 for spare tire).....higher than I expected but here are my adjustments to try to reconcile to the published 4,640# of the Z3: Trailer 1,250#, spare tire 50#, fuel 302#, 25# anchor....so everything else in the boat weighed 513#.
I've heard that the 4,640# published weight might be without the tower, electronics, fuel, batteries, etc. Don't know if that is true or not....if its true, then those items could account for a good portion of the 513# difference.
I may try it again at a time when we're not headed to the lake, and take out all the boards, tools, etc. To put it in perspective, a stock Z3 trailer has 7000# GVWR and 5,750# maximum capacity.
