Yes, I get that... I've read laws about "discharges sufficient to leave a sheen on the surface of the water larger than XX square [units]" and so forth. But that's to encourage people to be responsible, not to punish them for an accident like a sunk boat.

Most marinas and community docks forbid fuel tanks on the docks.
Hmm... perhaps I read that wrong. I interpreted "fine" to be a governmental fine, not a "You violated your marina agreement" thing. If some private dock at which you rent space wants to prohibit self-fueling, fine as long as they disclose that up front. I thought he was saying the lake as a whole prohibits self-fueling. I've never heard of that, which is why it surprised me.

If you wreck your car and take out a power pole or guard rail, someone has to pay the fix. Sink a boat, someone has to pay to clean up cause there would be some accidental spill/discharge. I think thats whats happening.

If the lake is on state or federal land, I could easily see there being a no fueling policy.

TAHOE has some pretty strict environmental laws. I just know if your boat sinks it's 10k. I suppose if another boat is at fault you probably can pursue legal action...not sure though. Could be a grey area there

The fueling thing is for real...and it goes right along with the sinking your boat deal. Clinton visited here during his reign and and was blown away by the beauty. Right after that we all of a sudden had a bunch of new laws

The biggest was NO 2 STROKE ENGINES. Of course now you can get direct injection 2 strokes that will pass the emissions'. My Zodiac had a 40 hp Evinrude 'oiler that was legal
my midlife crisis started at puberty and I plan on enjoying it all the way to the end..
