    Z3 swim step pealing up

My 2012 z3 swim step pad is pealing up any body else having this problem? Does any one have a good suggestions on what type of glue might work to re glue it ? Thanks!!

This happened to my RZR. It was peeling up in both of the top corners and eventually just started peeling away more and more. I took my pad off totally and removed all of the old adhesive using and adhesive remover using some adhesive remover and a couple new razorblades, it worked really well. I then cleaned it really well and wiped it down so there was no dirt or left over stuff. I used 3M 5200 to put the mat back down. They sell it in a quick 24 hours dry time and a 7 day dry time. It has worked great, pad has not moved at all but beware if using 5200 it's some permanent stuff, it will probably be near impossible for me to get the mat back up if I tried. If you use 4200 you could probably pull the pad back up if need be. After I reinstalled my mat I put heavy stuff on top of it so it made a tight bond.

5200 is not an true adhesive, but rather a below water line marine sealant for fittings. It does not have the best bonding properties.

not sure off the top of my head to be perfectly honest, just not 5200. Great product, just wrong application IMO.

Heres my concern with 5200 or similar. Its not that the chit aint sticky and wont hold once cured. I would not use 5200 because its going to squeeze out the edges as the mat is pressed back into place. This is going to require quite a bit of messy cleanup with a solvent. A solvent that I would not want to have in contact with the mat as it may soften, discolor or dissolve the mat. Even then, there will likely be a visible white seam where the 5200 was applied.

Look at 3M High Strength 90 Spray Adhesive. As long as the surfaces are cleaned well, it works great.

If you have a small area or just the edges peeling up, then SeaDek's website recommends using an acrylic based super glue.
