I will be taking ownership of a 2004 20V in a few weeks, and I hear all the talk of weighting the boat down with ballast and such, do these boats really need extra weight, or is the TAPS system good enough? I am an intermediate wakeboarder, and have never weighted my old boat (88' Ski Centurion Falcon). Is weighting that important to get that much more air?

I dunno, I bought an 04, 22V and have yet to ride behind it, I'm an intermediate boarder and it was suggested to me that I should put the ballast in it if I was to get any better, otherwise I wouldn't need it. However I also went to the 22V instead of the 20V because the wake is bigger behind the 22V without ballast, so personally I would suggest adding some ballast to the 20V to get some awsome wakes. If you have the weight in the boat to make the wake bigger you can control the shape of it better with your taps to fit your riding style better.

Take a look at the Are ballasts necessary? thread. Your question should be answered in that thread.
