Put money down last night on a beautiful 2006 22ve with 110 hours on the motor. 5.7L MP, all the tower rack goodies, nice sound system, factory ballast system, cover, to name a few. I'll be headed to Denver in a few hours to put it in the water to seal the deal.

What should I be looking for while testing it out? Any "look fors" would be greatly appreciated.

I did have another thread going about a different boat I was looking at but decided to to post a new thread to see if some of the 22ve owners would chime in. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I purchased a 2005 22V Limited Edition in January of this year with 200 hours. We've really enjoyed it thus far. Mine is the 6.0 and it pulls great. I can put 6 kids behind the boat and sling them around very easily. Hope if all works out for you. Good luck !

Wow, the 6.0 must have been an upgrade! I bet that thing is a rocket ship. I'm just hoping everything checks out as it looks like a sweet boat.

check out under and around. the boat. look for any hard impacts or gel cracks in the bottom. Also since your towing back. check out the hubs make sure they are in good shape. nothing worse then being broke down on I-80. do alot of start and stops. make sure its clean through the power band and no vibration that is bad from the drive, shaft or prop.

Look for spider cracks around where the tower mounts, where the ski pilon is, and anywhere else on the topside!

WYTige are you buying private party or through the local dealer? As others have said look for impact spots in the gel, check engine and trans fluids, You mentioned Ballast I would also check that all of the that works i.e. fills and drains. Good luck with the purchase.

Everything that has been previously said as well as Check Ballast, Taps 2 functionality, all the gauges and switches, like bilge and lights. If it comes with a shower and heater test those as well, because sometimes people forget to winterize those and they can crack and cause other issues. Make sure that the steering is smooth and not difficult to turn.

I have the 24ve for the same year and it has been a great boat. I think you will really enjoy it.

The 2006 with the MP engine is my least favorite Tige cruise. It works, but doesn't have a digital readout, and the tiny red light is impossible to see on a bright day. There is not any way to swap it out for perfect pass either. It sounds like I am too late to talk you out of it, but at least make sure it works, and that you can live with the way it works.

Well everything checked out and aside from a few things in the interior it is an awesome boat. The trailer was another issue.

First the boat. No cracks around the tower poles or anything topside. The gelcoat is in great condition aside from 2 or three small dings. Not bad for 06. Needs a good buff job and it'll look as good as new. There are a few cracks in the upholstry and one large hole in the bow where the backrest cushion meets the side cushion ( if that makes since). The motor ran flawlessly and they had just replaced some electrical stuff (I'll spare the details). Taps2 worked great and the bags filled and drained flawlessly.

The trailer. One of bunks was totally broken off which I did plenty of whining about. Other than that it "looked" good, tires as well. I got on the road yesterday morning feeling quite good and excited for the trip home to Buffalo, WY. I even stopped at WWS for a surf rope and a few goodies, Nick is a quality kid. About 15 miles up the road I'm cruising at about 65 and 'bam' blowout on the back driver's side tire. I got it limped to the side of the road and took the tire off only to find the brake calipers had seized on the rotor. As luck would have it I was right across the road from Transwest trailer and truck repair (it was actually comical that I was right there). A tech came out got the calipers loosened, I put on the tire and drove it through the ditch, across the frontage road and into their shop. Anyway, $700 dollars later I have two new brakes, new rotors/hubs on the back axles and a new spare tire. Drove in the driveway at midnight last night.

Oh, the cover is in very bad shape and I found a 22v cover on Craigslist, do you think it will fit? Not sure of the year and
it doesn't have the nice ratchet style tightening system my current one has.

I'll be on the water today though .

Trailers always seem to be an issue , but think of the abuse they take, running down the highway at. 60 + mph and then you dunk that hot hub and rotor or drum into a relatively cold lake and boom talk about thermal shock !!! But glad you got it sorted out , have fun with the new tige !!!

Bad deal about the trailer issues, sounds pretty similar to my first outing with my previous boat. At least you were close to a place to have it repaired and you weren't stranded. Good news is it's fixed and hopefully shouldn't give you anymore issues for a while.

Here are some pics of the boat on the test run. Windy here today so didn't even get to take it out. Instead I got it parked in the garage, qued the music and got to work cleaning.

Talltigeguy, it does have Wakeboard Pro Perfect Pass with a digital readout. Not sure if it was a later model for 2006 or what. The PO left a ballon on it as it's nearing my birthday, nice touch I thought.

Nice ride!!!

I think that means it is an early 06, before they put Tige cruise in them. That is a great boat.
