Surf Bimini got destroyed while my son was towing my z3 to the dealer for repair

I towed it home at 60mph myself and it seemed fine, nothing worse than more problems on top of the engine trouble.
Not sure what speed he got up to?

I'm assuming warranty will not cover the top damage from towing?

2 months and 20 hours old

I would say your not covered under warranty. Given that is not normal wear and tear and I think if you read the fine print there is a max mph listed... not designed to take that kind of wind load. as well.

I think its listed at a max speed of 45mph while towing with the bimini up. Sorry to hear that!

My bimini definitely says not to go faster than 45mph with it up.

Mine has a warning tag on it as well to not exceed 45mph.

Yeah, the tag says 45MPH. If someone cut the tag, get ready for some jail time, just like with mattresses...

I suspect that you also drive with the boards in the racks? We have gone the rounds with that one before, but smart people generally feel you should take the boards out of the board racks too while driving down the freeway.

Sorry to hear about the beating the bimini took. I would count your blessings that the fabric, (or a wakeboard for that matter) didn't hit the windshield of the BMW behind you and cause serious damage or injury.
                Be excellent to one another.

The old wake/surf boards in the racks going down the road drives me crazy. I don't care how slow you are going I personally believe they shouldn't be allowed legally to be in the racks.

Not only do I remove the bimini tower and the boards, but I actually unscrew our board racks and turn them around to face into the boat. I dunno how wide the newer Tiges are, but my 1999 2100v just barely fits in lanes on the freeway in SoCal...I have probably 6 inches of clearance on either side. The Aerial tower sticks out past that a bit, and with the racks facing outwards I'd be paranoid that I'd clip something else wide on the road...lots of semi trucks where I drive.

Don't feel bad. My nephew did the same...shredded the crap outta' the stock bimini goin 65 in a 35.... + our Phase 5 Daniello Diamond flew out of the boat at the same time

New bimini cost 900 big ones!

Amazing the board survived with a couple dings and the bottom all scratched up near the nose(landed on it's belly AND skidded on to a neighbors lawn)... Cant' believe it's still waterproof!!! A little polish with a buffer.. and quick ding fix it was "fine".

He blamed in on me for letting him tow it. I was in another state and as I recall I told him to CLEAN OUT THE BOAT before towing it and go REAL F*CKIN SLOW!!! Punk feels no remorse..

I def' blame myself though. I forgot about him being a total leadfoot'.

Now I won't let him near the boat..He's not allowed on it, in it or around it....no surfing, tubing, wakeboarding.... NOTHING..NADA

As my kids always tell me "At least your not bitter!"

Sucks about your Bimini, but I have just given into knowing that I won't go more than a month without having to put more money into my boat.

Last time out, I lost two bumpers and a mushroom anchor - boy did that add up to more than I thought it would

I gotta say my new Bimini is waaay nicer than the stock. I'ts made out of the best stuff + it's a good bit longer over the rear seating. Keeps that sizzlin' high altitude sun at bay
