    Alpha Z tower Rattles

I thought I would start with you guys before considering what to do next. This is my second summer with this Z3 and as I move along in rough water the tower is constantly rattling some of which I attribute to some expected torqueing but more that that I can hear something rattling in the inside like a weight hitting the tower. Can someone give me some advice on if this is expected or is there something that can be done to make this better. I have not had this tower down yet and have very little need to do so but will if I need to look into this any further. All threaded screws seem to be tight but the one pin/bolt that stays in as you pull tower down on Port side constantly comes loose.

Pull your pins out and make sure they have that beveled washer on them. My buddy's boat came without those on the locking pin and we noticed it shaking on rough water the other day.

I will check next time out. Any thoughts on the rattling I hear coming from the inside?

I had the same rattling, tightened up the screw/bolt that the tower pivots on when folding down. Solved the problem. Good luck, hope that fixes it for you.

I have the Samson rotating board racks on my tower. I get a rattle out of them once in a while when I hit a big roller or we are riding through rough water. Thought it was my tower initially but it's actually the rack. Not sure if you have the Tige racks or not.

Yes I have tige racks I believe but a good comment I will give it a good look. It really sounds like a weight or something is rattling around inside the tower?

I hear a rattling in the base in rough water, too. I think it may be the counterweight spring or assembly. I haven't looked further into it, but haven't had any problems with it. Just an annoyance so far.

This is the rattle I am referring to I was hoping someone has had enough of this and could assist with some advice on how they worked on it perhaps wrapping with something?

I had a rattle or slight pinging noise with my z3 but one day I took the tower down and a big piece of slag or aluminum casting came out and the noise went away.

I know this doesn't help but try raising and lowering the tower and see if something comes out.
