    07 RZ2 towable cover wanted

Does anybody have a factory cover for an 07 RZ2? I'd like to find one without having to pay factory pricing for a new one. If not a factory one where can I find one that is aftermarket but still has the ratchet straps to keep it tight to the hull so I can tow with the cover on. Thanks!

I just recently contacted Jean and Lee at the tige factory as I'm needing a cover for my 07 and didn't want to buy just any aftermarket cover as I like the one that came with it. After all it lasted 7yrs!! Here is a contact for the company that made mine so I assume yours should be the same company being that year.

Lee was able to give me a part # by giving him my HIN. Him and jean were extremely fast and helpful, only problem is I called Commercial and they are closed til July 10th or so.

I went through this last year and wasn't able to get a factory one. Wound up getting one from Westland and I absolutely hate it! I just ordered parts yesterday to convert it to be more like the factory cover with the ratcheting straps. Parts were only $30 so not too outrageous.

Timmy did you check with commercial? I did the same on my last boat by getting an aftermarket Westland or such cover and hated it also. Never would fit right or tight! I unable to get a hold of commercial as they are currently closed for a couple weeks but am definitely goin to call them to see if they can make mine but I'm sure I will be left disappointed. I guess it's time to trade the boat for a newer one that has a cover!

I would check out Evolutioncovers.com as well. I had one made for my Z3 and it's great, fits really tight and trailers well. Had one made for my old Moomba as well. I wouldn't want to tow with the factory cover, although I know many do.

Timmy - what exactly are you doing to retrofit your cover from Westland? Is this cover the style that straps to the trailer? - I hate those and want one like the factory cover as well...

I wasn't given the information. I had a $2,500 grand prize voucher to use and was told that they couldn't get me a cover for an '07 anymore.

I checked with Evolution and think I was quoted over $1,000 for a cover. I think the Westland was like $600?

The one I have uses a string/ratchet system to secure the cover around the bottom of the rubrail and then uses the straps that go down to the trailer. Technically you don't need the straps to the trailer but I think the string isn't quite strong enough to secure it comfortably.

I ordered polyprop webbing, buckles and some ratchets and I am going to replace the ghetto string system with the webbing like the factory cover uses and put on the buckles and ratchets. As it stands right now, it takes a good 5 minutes to get the cover off of the boat and probably 10 minutes to secure it back down. It's a pain in the butt! I will keep you posted if it works or not.

One more thing, the cover material is nice and it actually works very good as far as protection from the elements, it's just not engineered as well as the factory version.

They are a night-and-day difference in quality and fit. I was going to say that it's not for the budget-minded, but the flip-side is that you might spend more in multiple covers, and/or gel damage from an ill-fitting, lesser quality cover.

I can't remember but I think these guys offered the commercial sewing cover at a reasonable cost (800-900 or so)

                          http://www.sunsolutionproducts.com/

They sell the mastercraft one for $500 for the X80

However, the Tige covers were more expensive. I don't remember why but I remember being disappointed it wasn't $500 when a gigantic X80 is $500.

                          Good luck!

I'm sure they are. The local canvas shop here does excellent work as well but they wanted $1,700 and I am planning on selling my boat this year so why put that kind of money into it?

True, lots of considerations before jumping into it.
