My new (to me) 2005 22v

    Hi all

New tigé owner here. Coming from a '92 supra direct drive, and just pulled the trigger on a very clean and pretty loaded '05 22v. Loving it so far, and looking forward to the rest of the season with it. Props to Mike @ Mike's Liquid Audio for installing the great sound system for the previous owner.

Just snapped a couple quick pics this weekend.

I do both. Going to work on dialing in both wakes with weight and taps. Really impressed with the surf wave these things can put out when heavily/properly weighted.

        Two questions I've come across:

#1: Where can I get the replacement hydraulic arms that hold open the rear lockers and engine hatch? I need to replace a couple of these.

#2: Does anyone have a good systematic way to collapse this certain tower (I don't know the series name for it)? Unfortunately at the moment, I will have to fold it down after every use to get it in our external garage. I marked up the picture below for reference. This first time I unscrewed #1, then #3 and swung the support arm back to allow it to come down. I determined this was not the best way to do this for multiple reasons.

This weekend I believe i'm going to try and remove #2, #3, and the support arms all together, while providing temporary support for the tower in order to not put too much strain on screw #1. Then remove screw #1 and allow the tower to come down.

One thing that seems inevitable and not too good of an idea, is that (when collapsed) the tower bears down on the collar for the rear view mirror on the starboard side and consequently just floats on the port side. I'm going to try and work on a solution to avoid this.

For the hydraulic arms, most auto parts stores have them. Either measure yours or just take it off and bring it with you to get the right length. They are rated by pounds of force, I've always opted for replacements that are stronger than the stock ones.

For some reason I am not seeing the pictures or I could probably help a little with this. I just went through this and had taken it down the wrong way - and man that is a pain. Look at this thread - its so much easier this way:

Thanks, I'll give this a try next time. Going to start working on dialing in both wakeboard and surf wakes this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions for weight distribution, taps setting, rope length, and speed?

To take down the tower There should be screws where the upper tower and the lower tower come together just above the windshield line. Take those screws out on both side then take the screws out of the verticle support going to the upper tower. After you take the screws out of the verticle support if you are taking it down by yourself take one of the supports and swing it to to boat (I use life jackets to rest this on). Now got to the other side and support the tower and take down the other support. Now what I did was use float noodles to put between the tower and the boat. My mirror collar is higher up so no worrie about that putting pressure on the boat. Also I have handles on the "screws" so it really only takes my 1minute to take down the tower.
