    Boating in Ontario

I was surfing in the east side of the Burlington bay today. Had a great day & very impressed with the VX on the rzr. Anyway as I was pulling the boat out after riding and there were two RCMP officers on a boat at the launch talking with 2 kids on pwc's. I ignored they were there and one officer comes over & tells our group there is no waterspouts allowed in the Burlington bay because it is a shipping port???? There is 2 sailing clubs that are in the area so it makes no sense to me why wakeboard, skiing, surfing or tubing would be illegal.

I have searched for facts to support this statement and can not find anything. I live very close to lasalle and plan on boating there regularly.

    Please chime in with comments.

Interesting. I can see why watersports are not allowed because all small craft must give way to all commercial traffic, and you can't give way to a tug if your rider falls. I bet there are areas where watersports are safe there but it's probably easier to just say no to all watersports. Here is a little light reading on the harbor.

Btw, if you want to see some beautiful boating areas, check out the Rideau Canal between Jones Falls and Smiths Falls. My family used to rent a lodge at Chafeys Lock since I was 6 months old and I went every summer until I finished college and grew up. I really miss that area, it's one if the best boating areas in North America.
