Oil Change Success and then some

I am posting a little late pertaining to preseason maintenance, we are having a late start this summer, a lot going on right now. Here is how it went down:

Read this post about 10 times:
    http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...=oil+extractor

I am an average DIY'er, change oil in our vehicles all the time, general repairs, etc. just a little nervous to wrench on the Tige'

I got a PELA 6000 extractor, from Amazon. I thought about mityvac but went with cheaper one since this will be a "once a year" kind of thing. Worked ok, kind of slow, came with a small tube attached to go down dipstick tube. I planned on hooking it to the oil hose from bottom of pan, but used dipstick tube since small hose was already attached to extractor, guessing that hose opening is small and that is why it went slow until it gurgled and no more would come out. I did run engine for 5 minutes to warm up.

I worked on the boat while changing oil in 3 vehicles in my garage, and not thinking dumped 6 quarts in. I checked dipstick to see that it was overfilled, so I sucked some out, and got more dirty oil out, when it was clean checked again and oil level was correct. I felt good that I got more used oil out of it after that.

While I was nosing around down there, I found a grease fitting on top of the rudder that looked very dry. I put a little marine grease in it. I never heard anyone mention a grease fitting on their rudder before, anyone else add grease to this? Is there any other grease fittings I should be looking for?

Reccomend that you crank the steering so the cable end is all the way out and grease the shaft , also preferable that some one moves the steering back and forth while you grease the fitting so as to spread the grease around the port, take white grease in a spray can and lube the transmission lever and cable, check the battery terminals and spray them with a anti corrsive spray, look around the corner of the side pannel where your shifter is and spray ube on the cable and shifter, check your trim pump for proper level with the trim plate in the up position, spray the trim plate hindge with a lite ammount of lube, if you can reach the bilge pump unsnap it from its grille and clean the screen of debree, spray a protective spray on the platform bracketts, hope this helps with your maintenace.
