Does this look right?

Just checked the V-drive gear box for the first time prolly ever! The fluid level looks good however the Yellowish color of the oil is alarming. I've never seen this color in gear boxes or differentials before. It doesn't smell burnt or anything, I'm just curious if this is Normal?

It looks like water has gotten in there. When water mixes with oil it becomes milky. I would replace it. You may have to do it several (5 or more) times to get it all out. When you change it note how full it is then see if it increases. If it does you have water coming in from somewhere. I ask this because I am guessing that you should only be to the line on the dipstick. I notice the rust looking around the cap, has water filled the bilge? If so, then water may have either gotten in via the cap or the overfill vents. In that case you will just have to keep changing it till you get clear oil.

Drain it, flush it with diesel, fill with new gear fluid.

Do what Chris says and then run it for a few hours and then drain it and refill with gear oil again to be sure all the diesel is out and you should be good to go if you don't have leak.

Thanks all...I kinda assumed the worst as well since water & oil = milky color. YES i've had the bilge full of water from time to time; (swamping the boat, ballast leaks, prop shaft seal?) still trying to troubleshoot where the water is coming from. When surfing my bilge pump seems to almost constantly run, I've gotta pull the floor to see how that hard tank is doing.
What does the diesel do?
i'm thinking simply sucking the fluid out with a pump similar to how i change the engine oil, then fill it up with desiel, then suck it out then refil with oil?
Also..the manual calls for Mobiltrans SHC 50 but I can't find it online and i'm sure AutoZone doesn't have it...what oil do youall use?

The diesel will just rinse all the milky oil you have stuck to the inside of that case. In a perfect world you should run it for about five minutes ( on the lake) then suck out the diesel and refill with gear oil. Then change that oil after you run it a day to make sure you get all of the diesel out. Your dealer or your nearest marina should carry a marine grade gear oil. It's the v-drive not the transmission that has the milky oil right?

No mariana or dealer for 100miles...people are changing their gearbox fluids all the time, i'm just curious what type of oil they're using. Would Mobil 98KH10 Synthetic Transmission Fluid, 50W be okay? I don't see why not. Also what's Marine grade have to do with it? I use Rotella engine oil and it doesn't have to be marine grade.

I was just trying to be PC on the Oil... there are a lot of folks on here who feel very strongly on what type of oil goes in their engines and drive trains for lubrication purposes. I'm fine with penzoil 30wt in the V-drive and regular off the shelf ATF in the tranny, its never in there long enough to break down.

When I purchased my boat the previous owner left on a dock lift all the time and never dropped the plugs so mine looked just like yours. I sucked it out and put new in and keep the bilge area dry so have never had an issue since. I doubt the trans is leaking it is most likely the top vent cap that let it in as others have said.

A couple areas I had on mine that were leaking were around the raw water pump strainer on bottom of boat. There were holes all the way through the boat where the strainer mounts on. Also the front eye strap didn't have any sealant around it so it was letting in an extremely large amount of water. Since sealing these are my boat rarely take on much water in the bilge. Might check these 2 areas as I beat myself up trying to figure out where the water was coming from.

Almost without question your 2010 boat has a PCM engine, PCM transmission, and PCM v-drive. The transmission (the one in the middle) uses Dexron III and should be changed every 50 hours. The v-drive (nearest the front or bow of the boat) uses the Mobiltrans product but does not need to be changed unless it becomes contaminated or the level drops.
