    Z5 Cargo Rack

I put in a call to Z5 today about possibly making a z5 Bimini for the alpha z tower. I had a z5 on my last boat and loved it it's great being able to tow it and store surfboards, wakeboards, tubes, paddle boards up to 3. I have the surf Bimini but hate having to fold it up everyday. Z5 is going to put in a call to tige about possibly making a z5 who if anyone would like to see this happen?

I just looked on their site, can you fold down a tower with the rack attached? I have to fold my tower down each time to put the boat away in the garage. Also, it looks like it covers mostly the cockpit forward of the tower, with my 3 little ones I love the extended Bimini. It gives us lots of shade, is there an extension available?

No you have to take off the z5 to fold. It cover from the windshield to the rear seat in my axis.

Gibbs - can you seriously tow the boat down the road, on the trailer at highway speeds and leave the rack/bimini in place? I had heard that from a Nautique dealer, but didn't actually trust it. Having that up there at 65-70 MPH seems as if it just wouldn't hold up for long. Just looking for verification. If this is the case, would be interested as we love our surf pockets on our bimini and because of that put it up almost every time out. We never drop our tower as we have a storage unit rented with a 14' door.

I have towed mine on the interstate at 75 and never had a problem. We had to guys stand on top of it and it would not move. You can do pull ups on it if you want.

I had one on my '08 Moomba LSV and left it on while towing. Never had an issue, either with it coming off or with any stretching of the fabric.

Its nice to see pics with gear loaded. Their site just has great shots of boats with the Z5 but no really optimizing it for gear. I would be in for one (assuming I still have an Alpha Z boat at the time).

Is there any version of the Z5 that sits above the tower? All that I have seen are below it. The Alpha Z is already awfully short, so no bueno with a typical Z5.

I was told it would take a year to develop

                              I agree

Gibbs- if you happen to speak with them again, please make metion of this. If it was under the tower, it would definatly be a no go for us. Even without the extension, I already bump my noggin stepping down from the back.
