Like the new 210 / 230, the G21 was designed around the NSS. This boat does not need to be listed to create the wave.

I rode in a G21 but didn't surf it because the lake was completely blown out. Surprisingly, this G21 only had the 340 hp motor in it... We loaded it with full ballast and did fine, probably due to the new 2:1 transmission. We even ran it at full throttle and it had decent hole shot. Although the rough water made it difficult to see the characteristics of the wave, it did look very big and clean whenever we'd hit a very small calm spot.

To speak on fuel efficiency, I talked to an owner of one out in CA recently, he said that he burns about 4 gallons an hour while surfing (full rear ballast at least). He has the 550 hp motor.

Whoever you talked to is pulling your leg on 4 GPH. I have talked to numerous owners of the G23 and the 550, they are seeing number of 8-12GPH while surfing but they may be pulling my leg.

          Maybe it's the California air?

I have a 210 with a 450 and I average 4 GPH while surfing. Lighter boat, does not have 2:1 transmission.

My only other comment is the Gs need to be judged against the ASR not the Z s the Zs compete with the Nautique 230 and 210!

I understand that Dom but this comparison is because there is not a 21'6" ASR yet. IMO, the G21 competes against the RZ2 and he Z3 because it is right in between them in size and price. I've been in a Z3 and I think the G21 does a better job with interior room and storage. This is based solely on my perception from the boat show, on a trailer. I haven't driven one or been behind one, but it's got my attention. I also have no intention of trading in my RZ2 for one, I love my boat as it is, but the features I love about my boat are gone in the new RZ2, so if God forbid my boat sinks or catches on fire, the G21 is at the top of my list to test drive and look at for a replacement.

I surfed a G23 last weekend for the first time and was completely blown away. I've been behind a few other boats. Love my RZR. I've surfed a few nice Centurions with plenty of ballast including a new 24' ramfill. Also surfed the Super Air Nautique 230. The G23 blew them all away IMHO. It was weighted evenly and only had the driver in the boat, no extra ballast. He was able to dial it up taller, longer, etc on command. The wave was longer with more push than any of the other waves by far. It's out of my price range, but I'd surf that wave any time.

Thanks all for the feedback so far.

Bedwards - I did check out some of the Southern Surf Fest pics that were posted on here and some of those photos actaully started making me think about this, but after seeing one in person at the boat show, my mind started turning just a little faster. Thanks for pointing out the downfall of the reverse seat, its a cool feature, but I can see your point - even more so on the 21'

I know the Tiges have no storage under the bow, but have you actually gauged the storage on the G? The G25 I did some work on, had super small under bow seat storage. Maybe a few life jackets or some towels and shoes.

The port mid-ship locker was huge, but not STBD locker.
Some storage under the bow is still better than no storage. Extra place for anchors and if it is just for towels and extras if the guest list grows, its still more than we have now. For us the STBD locker really does not exist due to the heater.

I did test drive a G21 with the 409 and really like it but found for the little price difference to the G23 it was a no-brainer.( I have no restrictions on length). The Z3 was a good boat but after finding out the wife, son and daughter all ride goofy and I'm regular we really want the NSS and after surfing behind a G I needed to have one.
I know that these are all expensive, but the sticker on the 23 is still $15k ish - that is alot of extra $$, but I can see your point. We also have a few that ride goofy.

For the G23/G25, a W719 Jumbo Surf is a perfect fit in the rear lockers.
Chpthril (Mike) - I am still trying to get everything together for the ballast upgrade on our Z1 and you are already trying to see Sacs for a boat I don't own. Now that is a great salesman

I don't disagree, but as Ewok pointed out, Tige does not have a 21' version and according to my dealer salesrep, they are going bigger before going smaller. Yes, if I would start to give consideration to a 23', I would definatly wait until our dealer has (if they don't) and ASR and try to get it on the water for a demo to give it a fair comparison.

Keep the feedback coming, I appreciate it and it looks as if there might be a few others giving it a consideration. At the end of the day, this is all personal preference for all and gererally everyone on TO keeps it clean and doesn't simply brand bash, which is appreciated. For our family, I could want a different boat, but if I can't get my better 1/2 to agree, I still get to have a pretty bad *** boat with our Z1 with VX. It's always fun to dream.

I did some reading today on the G Series boats as well, Im liking that new 2:1 Tranny, I never really considered these before but now Im interested. How long until Tige introduces the 2:1 tranny and a NSS gate system on the ASR?

I figured you guys would chime in...gotta love it. Doesn't the ASR still need a lot of additional ballast added to get a good surf wave out of it? I could be wrong, but I thought the ASR was a solid wakeboard boat stock, but not so much for surfing. I would love to be corrected. I personally would like to see Tige do something different with TT. Wet fingers, sunscreen just don't seem to work well with TT. Its great in the driveway but frustrating on the lake (again, personal opinion).

What's the deal with the 2:1 tranny?

FYI - I'm not trying to start a show you love for Nautique thread, just looking for opinions. We still all love our Tiges, Right?

                              Good point Dom.
What is the price difference roughly? Ive heard the G23 starts around 120-130 but with the options you WILL want, your looking at closer to 140-150. This is waaaay out of my budget
What does the G21 go for? ASR? Seems as tho you can get in a nicely equipped Z3 for 90-95ish. Correct?

If your going to judge by how long the boat is then thats ok , how much does the G21 go for with comparable options to a larger ASR ?
