    Nautique G21 Demo Anyone?

Hate to admit it, but I am giving some serious thought to taking a closer look at the Nautique G21. We were down at the Chicago In-Water Boat Show last weekend, went mainly to check out boats that we will never afford (plenty there at $1+Million) as a boat lover and a Nautique dealer had the G boats there.

Before I spend too much time digging into this, I am wondering if anyone here has demoed/spent time on the G boats, especially the 21?

There are quite a few things that our family liked about this boat (in theroy) over our '13 Z1. This was just based on it sitting at the dock as we didnt get a chance to drive/ride behind it.
-Tige Touch has been a little frustrating. It is just not sensitive enough, seems as if we really have to "push" the screen. Given wet fingers/sunscreen I just don't think boats are a great market for touch screens and this was somethign I had concern over. The Nautiques have a screen, but is controlled using buttons to the side - seems simple and I prefer simple.
-Under floor ballast. This just provides so much more consistant storage and would eliminate moving crap around the boat for different ballast configurations. We trailer everywhere, so we need to take everythign with us.
-Dropped down/stepped transom walk through. Simply like the design. The Z1 is similar which is part of what we liked about the Z over RZ series
-Bow storage - we have none with the Tige.

This is just to name a few.

I would really hate to end up switching to a different dealer as ours has been FANTASTIC to work with over the past year and if you have seen my posts, I believe that the dealer can definatly make the difference. I did check in with them just to see if Tige is stating any plans for an ASR 21. It sounds as if there may be a 25 coming, but since the Z1 was a new design for 2013 it does not sound like a smaller ASR is in the works.

Decisions - decisions. Just curious if any of you have any experiance with the Natique G boats and what your thougths have been. FYI - we mainly surf, the kids tube and we usually make a couple of wakeboard runs (just because) each time out as well. No skiers have been out with us in quite a few years.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

What is your goal for the boat? Surfing, wakeboarding, party, cruising? I have spent a lot of time on the g23. It's fit and finish is amazing. Surf wave is just ok. Wakeboard wake is good. Size is great.

Duffy - when we go out, we generally spend most of the time surfing, the kiddos do some tubing and if we are feeling young enough may get a couple runs wakeboarding. We will just swim and hang out some - generally when waiting on ballast and spend a little time at sandbars, depending on the lake. Most of the water near us a 400-800 acre lakes, so they are not large recreational lakes. There are a few chains that we can cruise, but we generally trailer and hit the lake for activities durring the day. The Z1 performs well for the most part, but storage gets really tight depending on how many guests we have and will get tighter as we are working through a ballast upgrade to Enzo type sacs.

I've looked and sat in one at the boat show, on a trailer, and if I had to replace my RZ2 the G21 is my first choice. I may change my mind after a demo but for the way the interior is laid out and they way the screen uses buttons instead of a touch screen it's got my vote. I love the surf wave on my rz2 so it's got a lot to live up to, But for fitting in my garage and interior layout, it's top on my list for next boat. I might get a demo this summer from Toblers , want to tag along Duffy?

Dandy- At Southern Surfest they had plenty of boats to surf (take a look at the website to see the sick list of boats Scott and Drew put together). I'm not sure why Duffy says the surf wave on a G23 is "just ok". I thought it was far and away the best surf wave there (or of any boat I've ever surfed). I wish they had a Z3 for comparison. The fit and finish on the G was top notch. I especially liked the sea deck flooring. No wet carpets. The seat in the back that turns for spectators to view riders I am still on the fence about. With 9 people in the boat it made the boat feel a bit cramped. I'm sure with only 4-5 it would have felt a lot more spacious. I just wouldn't turn the seat around if I had more than 4-5 peeps in the boat. The NSS has my vote all day long. The boat wasn't listed and threw up a monster wave on both sides at the touch of a button. It did take a little longer for the wave to form, but with all the other benefits, I would sacrifice 10 sec every run waiting for the wave to form. I wasn't a big fan of the bimini. It was too big folded up for my liking. All in all I fell in love with the G after our trip. Im not sure what the 21 wave looks/fells like but the 23 surely made a believer outta me. Just my $.02.

Well I have to disagree , the G doesnt have as good a surf wake you need to ride both brands, the G has a lot less push and is difficult to ride off the top and back down, as to drive the G doesnt handle as good in the steering and consumes a lot more fuel per apples to apples comparison of engines, also as to NSS the hardcore surfers still load one side or the other for a better wake on the G and the Malibu thats my 0.02!

I know the Tiges have no storage under the bow, but have you actually gauged the storage on the G? The G25 I did some work on, had super small under bow seat storage. Maybe a few life jackets or some towels and shoes.

The port mid-ship locker was huge, but not STBD locker.

Be sure to take an extra ballast bag for surfing. Seems a lot of the G23 and G25 owners are adding ballast on the surf side and listing the boat over in a traditional surf ballast setup.

Not sure where you guys are getting your info from but I came from a Z3 last year and now have a G23. The only thing better about the surf wave on the Z3 was the look of it and that was it. My Z3 did not have convex vx but did have the custom sacs. The G is taller longer and has more push than the Z3 if you can believe that. The Nss works incredible but I also prefer to list a little when using it. The storage was one of the reasons I switched due to the fact of all below floor ballast. The Z definelty burnt less fuel and handle better a high speeds but the G handle better during slow speed manoeuvring. I did test drive a G21 with the 409 and really like it but found for the little price difference to the G23 it was a no-brainer.( I have no restrictions on length). The Z3 was a good boat but after finding out the wife, son and daughter all ride goofy and I'm regular we really want the NSS and after surfing behind a G I needed to have one.

I'll admit, I didn't see the storage space on the G, know the fuel consumption, or how well it handled. Hell, I don't even know how they had the G weighted lol. There are many things to consider for you're next boat. I will be demoing a Z and a G before my next purchase (and probably a Mojo, Supra and Enzo haha). I have only been surfing for a couple years and thought the wave was great on the G. Vets may know more about the waves transition/shape far better than a rookie like myself.

My wave (big ballast 24v) is huge compared. For a stock wave it's great, but nothing compared to a listed boat. It has good enough push and length. Not very tall, but still a fun wave. I had a great time on it every time I surfed. I do like how simple it is. The boat however is amazing! Clean, beautiful and huge.

When you guys mention the G boats listed is this listing with factory underfloor ballast or adding ballast on top of that?

They mean putting the side your surfing on further in the water by either more people on that side or ballast or lead shot

For the G23/G25, a W719 Jumbo Surf is a perfect fit in the rear lockers.
