While we are on this topic, what do you guys recommend to remove bugs from the tower, speakers and board racks ? I made a tow this year without the cover/shrink wrap and have a mess to clean up.
              surprisingly, lemon Pledge works well.

I have to ask...how did you ever stumble across this? When your done, it must smell like summer

This is all great info. Thank you.
I just booked a house boat on Norris Lake which is a 14 hour drive from our house. I will definitely wrap my tower and the boat around the rub rail to reduce any scratches on the fiberglass.

haha, I used to use it on my sportbike fairings and helmet shield for bugs. I was on a ride once with a guy who pulled it out when we stopped for a break. Worked great.

it also works good as a defogging agent, use it on my hockey helmet visor
use it on the inside of your boats winshield in the fall

I'll hafta try the Pledge as I have plenty of bugs on my tower/racks/speakers from hauling. Thanks all!
Ewok- can you post a pic of the air dam? Is it just a piece of plywood fitted over the bow to keep the cover from concaving? Although I don't tow very far, I tow often. I may want to try your suggestion out.

The Pledge also makes your older lightly scratched plastics on quads and rzr's look nearly new

Well I got back in one piece from my first boating adventure with the Z1. I learned a lot. This was my bachelor party weekend so I intentionally avoided pictures for the most part.

I'll try to capture my various observations:

                            Towing:
The supercharged Avalanche had all the power I needed. If I wanted to pass a semi whilst going up a 15km hill at 8 degree grade, it would do it. The truck ran cool the whole way. The transmission never got over 195F. That little tranny cooler worked wonders. Suspension, hitch and brake upgrade were great and probably overkill. I probably was running about 14,000 lbs total, which is the limit of the truck.

There were very few bugs on the tower even after most of my packing wrap tore off. There were no scuffs anywhere in the boat. The cover was fine on the way out but I chose to use the side tie down straps coming home and one completely tore off the cover 25 minutes in. So much for that.

I did observe the pressure vortex across the bow. I think that piece of plywood is a good idea.

                            Boat ease of use:

I had 10 large men in the boat and it never felt crowded. We were likely past the weight rating of the boat. I had previously been concerned about having enough seating but we had coolers, a bbq, 7 boards plus personal effects and it was fine.

The stereo was good... not great. I think the independent zone control would be nice and a better frequency response curve on the sub.

The LED lighting was fabulous. At night the boat was a spectacle. It could be my favorite bling feature in the whole boat.

Magic button definitely needed ( I already have the button) .

The Bimini was great but too short. I'll need the Extension. The issue being when it's wet (it was very wet) the Bimini drains right in the lap of the back seat passengers. Otherwise I liked it.

Board racks are average at best. I'd love the clamping ones if they weren't so expensive. I think it would be better if the ropes went from bottom to top, instead of top to bottom.

Storage was okay. I have no idea how guys get away with the larger sacks. Just life jackets alone fill my entire port side bow locker.

                            Boat Performance:

The pro ballast never got full and seemed to drain a lot once listed. I can see why guys cross vent. The bags would fill in 3/6 minutes respectively. We added a 750 sack to the port side seat and that was ideal. We were running fully ballast plus the sack, then all passengers but the driver on the port side. Taps 4, speed 10.4. The wave was huge, but relatively short. It was good for beginners.

Engine and 537 prop were fine unless I needed to get up to speed with no one in the bow. Then it took a while.

Took on water a few times. Had likely 10 to 15 gallons drain out of the boat at the end. This was concerning as the auto- bilge didn't kick in. I assume it was just an improper switch setting.

At speed, while at capacity, the boat was really tippy. I later wondered if it was the bilge full of water. I'd get guys to move around and the boat would flop one say or the other. I thought it may also be due to wind hitting the racked boards. Later in the trip with no wind and fewer guys it did not happen. The rudder could also get hard to turn at speed in these situations.

                            -------

Overall guys told me it was the most fun they've ever had with a boat. I'm a pretty happy Tigé owner. The boat was amazing and wicked fun. I just wish I lived on shuswap lake!

Nice description !! I hope you hit the shark shack , and you basically summed up everything i found in my boat , but the tippyness bothered me a lot , it would Catch a wave and would put the boat substantially on edge , which was concerning to me

The shark shack wasn't out yet. Went out yesterday I think. It is floating in the old town Bay. We came across it going to a beach party one night.

The tippy thing is my biggest beef. People felt uncomfortable.
