What is this???

I am new to boating and new to this forum, so please pardon me for sounding like such a novice. We bought our first boat ever this year, a 2007 Tige 20V and needless to say I have a lot to learn. I have already learned a ton reading through some older posts. But there is one thing I cannot find in any other post... probably because I don't know what to call it? I attached two pics of it (one with cover and one without) and it is located on the driver side under the bench seat storage area, right next to my primary battery. It has wires going to it on the right side of the pic, and some kind of fluid line screwed into the left side. My guess is that it is after market but im not certain. I only guess that because of all the shavings left on the carpet. can someone please tell me what the heck that thing is??

iwndr is correct and also wanna add that the plastic case under the motor is the fluid reservoir and it should take any ATF transmission fluid. Not sure where the metal shavings came from probably something else and definitely would clean before they get into the reservoir.
