Jabsco Water Pump leaking

Update to the pump issue. I was able to change out the pump and test it out yesterday. It seems to work well, more water came out of the exhaust than with the old pump. Took her out for a lake test as well and the temp was still up at idle. Anything over 2,000 RPMs was fine. Changed the water pump, thermostat, coolant, and temperature sensor so I'm thinking the circulation pump may be the issue at this point.

At least we know the pumps are compatible so anyone else that wants to save some money can use the Johnson pump.

No, I haven't had a chance to change out the circ pump yet. Turns out this engine does not have the same $75 pump that the 5.7 has. It's a GM part and its $200 instead! I just got the part number from MP so I am going to order this weekend and hopefully install next week. I wanted to take one last look at all the hoses/coolers for any debris. I checked but for $200 its worth another quick look...

Check out the cooling system modification for those engines. Dom w. Forte did the write up, more likely your problem. Glad to know the fb-9 worked.

No I haven't changed mine out yet - I'm going to have to soon. Its starting to drip pretty constantly.

We have had the boat for 2 years now and this is the first time overheating has been an issue. Do you still think the cooling mod would fix this or should we consider the circulation pump option as well?

Im having the same issue with mine. I am just ordered the Johnson pump to replace my Jabsco. My engine looks exactly the same as yours. Well see how the swap goes. Luckily I dont have over heating issues, just leaking from the pump and front cover.

I just did the same replacement (Jabsco to the cheaper Johnson) about 2 weeks ago. Works great but I had to extend the bracket to the engine block by about 3/4".
