Well so one of the batteries died this weekend as I kind of expected as it didn't take a great charge the last time I tried when I summerized it. So I went to replace the battery and noticed something kind of funny.... well at least to me. Turns out my dealer seems to have ran all my stereo stuff to my crank battery instead of my deep cycle battery as he did alot of my stereo install. Now considering I have nearly 3000 watts in my system I'm thinking this prob. wasn't to smart. So I started thinking that maybe just maybe I switched the batteries after putting them back in from being charged. So I switched them up. But I went to start the boat w/ what was now the deep cycle battery turned off, and NOTHING. So I turn on the deep cycle battery and the crank battery off and it fired right up. Since I know a bit better than to try and use the deep cycle battery to start the boat permanently, I've decided to change things up and make them right.
So here's where my question begins. There's not enough slack in the speaker wire w/o re-running everything to move it all over to the other battery... so I plan to switch the battery positions and move the motors terminals. I'm assumine the two batteries are ran in parallel but I can't find the positive lead anywhere. I can only find the negative. But I didn't look to long. Can I just move the negative lead over to the other battery and the positive lead over the other way to basically keep things how they were w/ the boat starting off the crank battery and then I'll have my stereo wires off my cranking battery. This way I can just turn off my crank battery and not have to worry about it ever draining when parked and playing the stereo.
I mean I could leave it how it is, but I run the risk of draining down my crank battery Then I have to use the deep cycle to give me enough boost to start. Not liking that idea.
