    Taking down E Series Tower 2007 24ve

    All:

In the 7 years I've owned my 24ve I've never had to take the E Series tower down. It was always on a lift; I never had to garage it.
This year I am moving lakes and will need to take the tower down to fit in a garage for a while.

Looking for best tips/tricks, order of loosening the various bolts, if you prop it up on the rear swim pad with anything, and especially tips on how one person can do it.

Start by soaking the bolts with PB blaster for a few days if you haven't tried to remove them. I'm guessing that'll be your biggest challenge.

I have taken mine down twice (I think mine is the E-series) and its pretty much a pain with one person. The biggest problem I had was putting the tower back up - connecting the wires and stuffing them into the small hole where the tower comes apart was a nightmare...

I will be very interested in any tips as well...

Take out the bolts in front of windshield. Loosen the bottom two on the risers, but dont remove. Take out the top bolt on one side. Face the riser, and push up with the arm towards the front of the boat, on the tower. Pull the riser out of the socket and lower it with your other arm. Head over to the other side and repeat. Depending on how tall and how strong you are, this can be tricky. I had the wetsounds 3some, and if I were doing it by myself I would take the big triangle speaker off and I could handle it. Lower the bad boy down. I would back it in and then put the risers back in the upright position and tighten the two bottom bolts. (I bent one by leaving them down.) Most of it is finding the right spot to hold on the tower. Get a spotter the first few times and see if the weight is ok. I raised and lowered mine for 2 years and then traded up to an 09 with an alpha Z!

I have been lowering mine every time to get it in my garage for the past 2 1/2 years. I have the 3 some as well. I remove all the bolts and place them in a cupholder. Then take off one rear and go to opposite rear, standing on the rear deck you can hold it up with one arm while as you release the last riser and then lower the tower with both arms. I have a PVC post that is cut to the correct hight with a notch on top(and electric tape, so it rests without slipping). It is set high enough so there is not tension on the joints. You might have to remove bracket for mirror if that causes binding when down. I also have a hitch adapter to get it low enough to fit in my garage. Tower touches weather stripping as it goes in and out. Hope this helps

When folded down the top part of the tower is not touching the bottom part of the tower. The tower sits in the notch if the PVC stand which is place in front of the rear bench.
I use a dual hitch extender from harbor freight to lower the tongue so the tower is low enough. The first time I brought my boat home I had to let air out of the tires. My boat is not home now so I can't take pics of it in the garage.

No, I remove the front ratchet? Bolts and the the ones on the top rear. The rear posts fold down and then the tower pivots on the front. I got my boat back last night and it's in my garage. Will post when I get home today.

No need to disconnect any wires. Sorry, I'm not so good at posting pics with my phone.

I also take mine down like lazer.

jslayde1 you are taking it down the hard way. Leave the 2 allen head screws in the front part that allow it to pivot and remove the 2 upright brackets on the rear that have the tige emblem on them. They ea have 3 bolts with levers on them. 1 bolt on the bottom part can remain in to help in take down and putting it up. I do my tower by myself and my wife is actually able to do it also. The levers can be pulled out on and rotated if they catch anywhere on the tower while rotating them, or if you like them to all point in one direction when attached if you have OCD like me!! The front will have 1 bolt with lever also that removes. Throw them in a cup holder for easy access.

I don't have a fancy holder like lazer but use a thick towel under each side towards the front where it pivots or it will rub a mark on ea tube. I do like the idea lazer does with his though and might spend a couple minutes to make one.
