2013 RZR - Getting New Swim Platform - Should I order the Z3 Platform?

    All,

Picked up a leftover RZR and the platform had a crack in it allowing it to fill with water. The dealer agreed to replace it. I have also heard that the Z3 platform is a little smaller and has the glass filled in on the bottom which could help clean up the surf wake. Anyone have experience with this and can make a recommendation on which platform to get? Perhaps the 2014 RZR platform is different with VX? I do not have VX.

Upgrade to VX as it requires a different swim platform.

I have to pull the platform for garage storage each time. I can handle that myself as I left the middle hex bolts out. I just pull the pins, lift and pull. Works well. I think the VX is much heavier and it looks like I would not be able to leave the hex bolts out? Could get expensive too? I'm happy with the wake I just want it a little cleaner so I was thinking about the surf flap perhaps too. If removing the VX is as easy as removing the platform, I might ask them what it would cost.

I have an idea about parking the boat at an angle to allow me to keep the platform on. I can check when I get home. If I upgrade to the VX, can someone give me an idea on cost? I'm sure some have done it on a 13' RZR. I could only expect the dealer to contribute what a 13' RZR platform costs so let me know guys.

Your upgrade to the VX will be considerably less than some quotes that have been posted here. I have a 2011 RZR, which has the old style swim platform brackets (the kind with 3 holes in them). Tige has since put different swim brackets on their boats and those brackets are the ones the VX was designed to work with (your 2013 should have the new designed brackets). If the dealers is going to buy the swim deck then all your on the hook for is the VX and the install. My guess would be $2000 to $2500 with install.

I was quoted approximately $5000 for the VX. However, keep in mind that I have the old brackets so that price includes a new swim deck, VX, new brackets and the fiberglass work that needs to be done on the transom to install the new brackets and then the install and shipping.

I don't have the VX on my boat yet but my advice would be to do it. Yours will be far less expensive and it's like adding 2 feet to your hull. Lengthens the wave considerably on the RZR.

OK, I was successfully able to park the RZR in my garage with the platform on so I think the VX will fit. I should only have to pull it off for winter storage. I talked to Tony at the factory and he is going to work with my dealer to price out the retrofit.

            Questions:
            1) Are there any downsides to VX?
            2) Will my Seablaze lights output be affected drastically?
            3) Will the surf ballast be enough or do I have to upgrade now?

Anything else I need to consider?

You will need more than stock with the VX. Your going to be looking at least 3K for the VX. 2-2500 isn't realistic especially if you have to pay shipping. VX swim platform is sealed on the bottom, no lip.

Also how do you mean the dealer "agreed" to replace it. If it cracked and filled with water thats warranty plain and simple. VX on the RZR is very helpful to clean up the goofy wave. If you don't surf goofy or have anyone who does it might not be worth it.

Thanks, since warranty is paying for the platform, I figured I could get the VX upgrade cheaper as I figured the cost between the replacement 2013 non VX platform and 2014 VX platform can't be much. Since warranty has to pay shipping for the platform, figured I could just piggyback and pay the difference to add the VX. I heard the install is extremely easy, basically a bolt on.

As for goofy riders, there are a few in the group. I also heard it adds length and push to the regular side?

Might be a good time to do this at least for resale if warranty is paying for the platform portion of the VX.

We had a ''13 RZR that we put the vx on last year. (One of the first retro fits in the country). Yes we started with wrong brackets but Tige and my dealer made right real quick. Upgraded sacs and no regrets! Competition level wave every time and only gets better with more people in the boat, both regular and goofy. I can only quote what dealer estimate on vx and install +- $3200 depending on shipping and labor.

My platform cracked as well. How bad was the crack before it took on water?

Crack is about a foot long but only a hairline crack. Guess it is enough.

I have two cracks on the port side. Boat has only seen water half a dozen times. How did you know it was full of water? Were you removing it?

You seem to be having horrible luck. I guess if we want to know if there will be any issue with out boats, we should just give you a call. Sorry for your luck - fortunatly it sounds like you have a GREAT dealer to work with. I would get your dealer involved in this ASAP. We had a chunk of fiberglass missing out of our engine cover (covered most of the time) and a few gel cracks in a few corners of the cover. Our dealer was able to get this covered for us. I feel its best to bring this to the attention of your dealer ASAP before they feel that it was "user error".

                          Good luck!

Lots of rubs and scratches on your platform in addition to the cracks. Since you haven't had it in the water much, did it come that way at delivery? I wouldn't be too happy about that.
