Can't Dial in the Z3 - Wakesurfing

How deep is the lake, maybe to shallow?
I'm still playing around with my set up, main problem is two of my kids are goofy side, wake never quite as good and 75 % of my lake is under 10ft deep.

Mine came with both the VX and pro ballast and I did just buy the larger sacks from Mike, I didn't want to spend the money myself but at this point I thought there is no turning back, I still need to install my 1235 prop, I'm hoping it will then hold a steady speed better ?

The lake is 20-30 ft deep.

Download the free clinometer app on your iphone or droid. The boat needs to be listed at a minimum of 8 degrees but no more than 10. I can only speak from experience from a RZR and RZ2. The RZ's don't like opposite weight at all...

This maybe a dumb question, but where do you mount your phone with the clinometer app? My dash doesn't really have a flat area.

^^ Sounds like this is the culprit. I'm heading out there tomorrow, so we shall see. Hopefully I can get it dialed in and take some videos for you guys to see. I have 1 video from this weekend, but Lady Gaga is playing in the background (Pandora), and I'm too ashamed. Ha!

I have the same boat, but an extra 1100lbs on the port and starboard side. I surf with just the surf side front and back full. Taps at 4, and only 9.6 mph. Every thing that I have read on the forums said to fill the front both sides and non surf side at 50% going 10-12mph. The wave is just washed out like this. Try just filling one side and slowing down. It worked for me.. Good luck

I do the same thing gibbs114 does. I lay it on the rear walkway and measure it at rest. I put it on top of the fiberglass that sits between the back seat upright and where the engine swim pad is. If I only fill my stock 600 in the rear and my front 400 full, even with people my list only gets to like 5 or so. The extra weight down low under the side seat gets the right amount of list for me gives me a clean face and lip. Now lengthening the pocket in the RZR is another story....

Thanks!, that makes sense putting the clinometer there. I will hopefully have our old RZ4 out at CFW this weekend and really need to get both the surf wake and the wakeboard wake dialed in on that pig of a boat! I bought an additional 600lbs of lead and gained a couple of batteries to go with the 1100s. I hope I can get it this weekend as I love everything else about the boat.

Port wave: Both fronts full, rear port full (enzo sac), and starboard rear tank full, and about 4 inches of water in the enzo sac. This is with 3 kids (200lbs) sitting along the port side (not necessarily in the back corner) and the dog sits where ever. Wave is great at taps 4-5 (surf-style) and 11.2-11.4mph
Starboard wave: Both fronts full, starboard side full (enzo sac), port rear empty, 11.2-11.4mph, taps at 1 for skim, and 2 for surf. For some reason on this setup, as long as one kid is in the back corner, the other two can sit where ever they want to with little change to the wave.

The Z3 needs weight. They can only put 2300 lbs of ballast from factory to still maintain safety measures. Its up to the aftermarket to supply us with what is actually needed.

No boat out there makes a great surf wake with factory ballast. I mean NO BOAT. Well wakeboard boat that is. They all need more weight than factory.

I was having the same problems you are, only worse. I'm 5'10" & 220lbs on a shred stix off the shelf board. I ended up buying the 1100# sac & fill it to 100% along with the front (surf ballast, not pro) to 100%. I get everything set up & start filling the starboard surf sac while I'm on the board. When the wake looks & feels right, I get my wife to stop filling that sac. Works every time & I surf at 10.4-10.8mph with taps at either 4 or 5. Buy the big sac, you'll love it.
