I drilled a hole where the plug goes.You can also buy a Skelton case with a hole. I still need to ask the dealer about my plug I only have one wire ran and it powers and plays on video 1. All there boats are wired that way.

This and using the skeleton case would make me nervous. All it would take is a little bit of water to get in there and it would be all over. Not to mention if it gets knocked off. If it falls off with the suction cup mount it's over anyway because that floaty won't float the camera AND the suction cup. I do want to do this though....hmmm I imagine drilling would be the better option as the waterproof case is more enclosed than the skeleton case. So as long as the cable is plugged in the chances of water getting in the drilled hole would be slim.

Yeah I think I'm going to try this....I will buy an additional waterproof case and will drill a hole to make the connection.

e4nash....I don't have access to my boat for a couple of weeks but plan to do the same. There are 2 posts on here showing a mount on the rack and one showing the suction cup on the back. I personally like the video better from the back of the boat than the rack. I wonder is there isn't a better way to mount the camera right out of the cup holder vs using the suction cup....too much to go wrong. I think I saw a post once with the camera placed inside the small cubbies on the back of the boat (were the shower is, if you have one). No clue, but if you try it, let me know how it works out. I might just use the suction cup so I can upgrade to the GoPro3 after this one falls in......lol

Yes I cut a hole in the case for the wires. More like driller a 1/2" hole in the case. I have a rope that I tie to the camera as well so it won't fall far if suction cup fails. So far the suction has worked perfect

DrPorter......Did you cut thru the GoPro case to connect to the camera? I notice the floaty, is that just to recover the memory card? Assume if the camera gets dunked...it's all over. Has the suction cup worked?

Okay, so everyone with a Gopro and Tigé Touch HAS TO DO THIS MOD! It is far more functional (and totally cool) than I expected.

I wired mine using the all in one ebay cable. However it really was a do-it-yourself adventure. All the cable really does is separate out the wires.

The cable gives you power, ground, audio out and video out. The video and audio come on RCA (which is odd that you can extract analog video via USB but I digress) but the power needs to be 5V.

To get 5V I just hacked up an old USB printer cable and found 5+ and ground. I then soldered it up. For the USB plug in added one to the rear locker. I just got power from the cigarette plug already there.





It was tricky because I had to feed the wires in through the port side rear vent and solder once inside the boat. It was snug but worked.

To mount the camera I just used the stick on mount that came with the camera. It would take a golf club to knock it off.

To hook in the cable I drilled a 7/16" hole in the case. It is quite snug. It would need to be submersed to caused damage.

Lastly I ran the RCA cable up to the blue module under the dash. So whenever I hit the video icon I get the video feed plus metadata. Using the Gopro remote also allows me to change settings, start/stop recording, or watch saves videos. It truly is awesome. I find it better than using the app and the battery never dies

To remove I unplug the USB and unclip the camera. I'm left with a small USB cable I can tuck away under the travel cover.

That is awesome but what about starboard side videos ? Johnny I may need to enlist you to set my boat up like this.

To do starboard you'd just need a second set of wires, and a y-cable under the helm. If you wanted them to both work at the same time, (i.e. 2 cameras) that would need more figurin'.

I am free to be enlisted. Just supply tranquilizer for my soon-to-be-wife.

Sure thing. I'd like to find a better all-in-one cable than the one linked in this thread. It is very flimsy and quite short. I'd prefer something a little more rugged.

Travis - Do you want to take audio from the camera, or run a remote microphone? The fancy all in one cable allows an external microphone. I find that the vibration and noise from the engine is really amplified when you mount the gopro on the back of the boat like that. So if sound is important to you, it may be worth considering an external mic. With that being said, I haven't looked for those yet.

Another thing I've learned is that there is a fair amount of water spray slamming in to my camera at high speed. (I towed a skier with it running and it was noisy). Granted, the mount was still quite strong.
