After many years of wanting to get into a RZ2 opportunity presents itself!

Well, after 6 years of wanting to get into a Tige, particularly a RZ2, it looks like it could happen! If all works out I would be trading my 2001 Mastercraft X-10 for a 2009 RZ2.

I was wondering what all I would need to do to the boat to get the type and size of surf wake the current boats get with the pro ballast systems?

It comes with the 300lb front bow sac and the rear 250lb underfloor tanks. I will be keeping my 650lb Flyhigh bow sac and two 1100lb rear locker sacs. I was thinking of just swapping the bow sac as it is already plumbed in and then plumbing the 1100s off of the vent line of the hard tanks like the stock setup. Would this be a good setup?

Also I was wondering about the swim platform...did the 2009 come with the same size and shape platform the new boats have or would I need to modify or replace it?

The boat has the PCM 343 and is pre Tige Touch. I was also wondering what prop I would need with the above setup. We surf, wakeboard and my wife recreational slalom skis (22-24 mph). She is more just out for the ride... So top speed is not an issue. I don't know what props came on these boats.

Is there anything else I should look for or ask about? I will be having them put the surf pockets on the bimini and I will be moving over my two bank shore charger from my X-10. I don't remember if it had a second battery or not. It has 4 pro 80s on the tower and the standard 6 SW Inboats with free air sub.

Thanks for the help guys. I hope we can work a deal and my family can be enjoying our first year as Tige owners!

Congrats! Here is a link to the ballast upgrade I did to my RZ2 with stock factory ballast:

    http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...lus&highlight=

You could piggy back off the factory hard tank vent but that would take a long time to fill. I recommend adding a separate fill and drain pump for each of the 1,100 lb sacks. The bow sac is 400lbs but it probably doesn't get full enough for 400lbs. It's been enough for me because I usually have a few people on the boat with me and I tell them where to sit to get the best wake.

My boat came with the 537 prop and it's enough for me to get a real nice wave surfing and I've pulled some heavy ballast to get a huge wakeboard wake. I had 1/2 of my rear ballast full, about 1,000 lbs, and the bow full, and about 10 guys and gals on the boat once or twice and the wake was big, but it took a little while to get on plane, I had to use taps at 0. If I used that much weight on a regular basis I would opt for the 1235 prop but so far the 537 has worked for my surfing and not quite sacked out wakeboarding wake.

The 2009 swim platform was the second design, it has a lip on the bottom but it's smaller than the 07-08 models. The current gen 3 swim platform is filled in and a little smaller still and designed to work with the convex-VX. I have no issues with burying my platform to surf, and you can see the pics and videos of my wave in the thread above.

The stock prop works well but if you weight it heavy like mine is I'd go for the 1235 I believe is the number, I have pro ballast but still wanted more so went with 1400 Enzo's as well it's a great boat and you'll wonder why u didn't do it sooner. Oh yeah POST pics up when you get it.
      surf till u die.

        Congrats!

2009 RZ2 is a sweet spot. Alpha Z tower, PCM engine, no TigeTouch. Excellent boat design for usability.

Like Ewok said, the platform is a big improvement from 2008 and earlier ... but not as improved as 2010+. Consider adding a surf flap (link and link)

Fresh Air Exhaust (FAE) is a good option if you do not have Cat engine (probably not in 2009). That PCM engine is so quiet stock, you probably do not need it for noise. If you go FAE, you will probably need a surf flap.

If weighting it down to surf, consider the Acme 1235 prop. Buy the weekend saver kit and keep your stock for backup.

Make sure your Medallion controller flash is the latest version. Link.

        Fix your cupholders. Link.

Best upgrade hands down is SeaDek pads on transom and walk thru. Link.

If you keep the 10" open air sub, search around the forums for tips to modify the compartment.

Get the recall/upgrade for the tower bolts (if not already installed).

Verify the clearance between the prop and trailer before ordering the 1235. It is larger

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I will read through the threads and get my list going. I will get it in the water on Friday and get some pics then. I am sure I will have more questions! Thanks again.

Got a chance to get some pics and look a little closer at the details on the boat.

After many years of wanting to get into a RZ2 opportunity presents itself!

The boat already has the second battery and It does have the 537 prop. The dealer will be throwing in a second prop, update the tower locks, add a spare tire and carrier, upgrade to a single pair of Rev10s and add surf board pockets to the Bimini.

Looks like if Momma likes it this Friday when we lake test it will be going home with me on Saturday

I do have another question. It has the Ws Syn6 and Sync2 amps with 6 ws in boat speakers the 4 Pro80s and the free air sub. (Dealer will swap (4) pro80s with (2) rev10s)

How did they wire these amps from the factory? I am wondering what the best setup would be for this boat. I will be moving my WS420 over from my x-10 and wondering if I should rewire the system for better power and control.

Same color scheme as our 2009 24Ve. That is a sweet looking boat, and I can say from experience of being on Ewok's identical RZ2 that it is a GREAT choice that you will absolutely love. If the dealer is throwing in an extra prop, make it a 1235 so you have it in case you need it.
