    Rope rubbing on Bimini

Anyone else bugged by the fact that the rope rubs on the bimini? I was wondering if thats because I have little dudes mostly but that can't be it.

if its rubbing due to short riders(low angle), try running it underneath.

I worry about that too, which is why I put some nice smooth shrinkwrap on the rope in that area. No more abrasion.

You can also attach it off toward the side of the tower, and depending upon placement you can completely miss the bimini altogether.

Where is the rope rubbing, and what kind of rope? Wakesurf or wakeboard? I have the extension on my Bimini and I don't have any rubbing issues. Pics please?

I don't have pics, but mine rubs over the top of the rearmost metal support tube in the bimini fabric. In your case that would be the "middle" tube since you have the extension. The downward force isn't huge, but it's there.

Does it rub when pulling a rider out of the water or only when the rope is slack? I guess my extension wraps the rear of the bimini down because my surf or wakeboard ropes do not rub on the bimini.

We had sandm as a guest on our boat last year and he pointed out that we could wrap the rope through the holes in the side of the Alpha Z tower (for surfing) and we tried it out and don't look back. This makes it easier to get in the pocket as well since it pulls you up on the side of the boat...you don't have to "drop in" if you start in the middle. That aside, we didn't really notice any rubbing. I believe we ran the rope under the bimini for surfing and over it for boarding before we changed to the sides for surf.

Not when wakeboarding, only when surfing. The force is greatest when the person is still down in the water due to the angle. Once they're up, it basically brushes the top. Once they let go, of course, it doesn't matter.

We've tried putting it UNDER the bimini, but then it rubs when the person is standing. That back rail is apparently in the perfect spot. A bit higher and the underrope would miss it... a bit lower and the overrope would miss it.

Maybe you should try to add a little more weigh to the stern of your boat to sink the trailing edge of the bimini so it doesn't rub.

Hey, that's a great idea! Maybe I can get some fat sacs that are a little bigger than average....

Use the hand holds in the Alpha Z. Wake9 sells a handy little clip for that purpose.

I also put some electrical tape or Teflon tape on the surf rope to stop the rope from wearing on the bemini.

I'm specifically referring to when we Wakeboard, I've got some 3M Scotchprint left over that I'm going to put in there as a rub rail.
