Your quote is pretty funny!! Being a guy with two younger daughters and a more conservative wife the G23 also rode level the whole time... which is cool. Also if switch often for goofy and regular... then the switch over is a non event as there really is not a switch over it is instant. Granted other boats have quick fills and quick switch overs as well but I thought the level boat while surfing was a nice feature for the right person.

As one of the riders at the event, the G23 had by far the biggest/best wave. I know this is Tigeowners and not Nautiqueowners, but Nautique def has the NSS dialed in. I've always been a Tige fan but after the event, I'm thinkin about downgrading to a mobile home to finance a G lol. As St68 said in an earlier post, all the boats had great waves. His boat in particular surprised me as far as wave. In all the excitement I didn't find out the ballast setup in the 22v. Can you enlightenment me st68?

It definitely would have been nice to have a late model Tige at the event but thank you for the compliments on the wave! I have to give credit again to Polar Bear, wake9, topazsurfer and other participants there... the weighting came from that event... learned a ton from everyone there. Here is how my 22Ve is weighted: I have the custom 1100 lb sac in the rear locker + 600 lbs of lead in the locker and 100 lbs lead in the opposite rear locker + another 750 W711 sac in the front bow... the rear bag is pretty full and I don't think we are losing any weight there... the front blow sac is probably closer 600 lbs as it is not completely full and I added 100 lbs lead under the bow cushion up there in that picture as well... she liked it when 1 or 2 riders were sitting in the front too... otherwise the pocket got a little shorter... still playing around with the weight... love that it is all under the seats!

When you say custom 1100lb in rear which model are you talking about? I currently have the fly high x series jumbo v drive sac which is rated at 1100 lb and it seems like it isn't enough weight as it won't completely fill. Some say around 600lbs is all that it is holding so was wanting to upgrade at some point as I like the size of your wake.

It is a fly high sac that is custom made to fit the rear locker of the 22Ve and it also fits under part of the seating as well... if you look under your side seating you will see it is open to the rear locker so the sac is one big L shaped sac to optimize the space... actually I still have some room in the locker and wish mine was about 4 to 5 inches taller back there. if you have a stock bag that doesn't fun up from the locker to under your seating then you are not able to get the full effect... I also put the lead on the floor under the sac which works perfect... the 22Ve loves more weight on one side... 1600 to 1700 lbs seems about right... and it really likes weight in the bow too. You almost want the rub rail near or touching the water before you are going. The speed we typically go on is 11.4 to 11.6 which helps the length of the pocket too... Taps at 4, sometimes 5... but play with that... some like it at 3... you will see the wave adjust right away if you don't have a rider back there. I hope that helps...

Sorry for derailing this thread into a ballast discussion. But thanks for the tips Scott! I made some lead ingots (400 lb total) over the winter I added to the front of my Z1 and now might make some more for the rear locker (I have a custom 950 from MLA in there already) per your advice.

I'm thinking we have the same sac just don't have the lead at bottom of locker. I was hoping to get a larger sac that could be emptied as I am a slalom skier and whine when the wake gets too big behind the 22ve so don't wanna add an actual weight to boat. We run taps around 3.5-4 and speed around 11-11.8 with usually 3 small ppl in boat and a couple small kids.

It is fun talking ballast!! Trying to get the right the most fun wave is part of the adventure!! What I talked about is for the 22Ve... the Z1 is a different animal which I have no experience with. At Polar Bear with wake9 there was a private owner Z1 that was dialed in awesome... I cannot remember his name off hand but maybe someone will chime in who knows him and/or his set up... actually on the 2013 Polar Bear recap page at wake9 they might show his ballast set up... I would simply duplicate what he does as it was as good of a wave as any other boat out there.
