    TAPS issue on 1999 2100V

I've got an issue with the TAPS on my 1999 2100v....I can adjust it to its max (7) and 0 while in the driveway and its fine, but if I set it to 0 on the lake it will creep back up to 7 while we're moving. I checked the hydraulic fluid level and its fine. My father-in-law suspects its a check valve inside the pump. To test it we took it out of the water and used a 2x4 and a car jack to put some light pressure on the TAPS plate (to simulate the force of the water pushing up). Sure enough, it slowly went back to 7. Could an internal check valve be the problem? Would it be possible to take apart the pump and fix it, or do I need a whole new pump?

Also, how far up and down should a TAPS plate move? It seems like it only goes a couple of inches.

    Thanks,
    Mike

First off - call Bennit, they are awesome to work with. They will have all the correct answers.

Sounds to me like the "release" valve (valve allowing fluid to go back to the tank) is not holding under pressure. I completely took mine apart a couple years ago - fairly simple to work on. You could probably find just a valve on the internet somewhere and try that....

Yes, the plate itself really doesn't travel that far - not a far as you would think anyway. A few inches is probably correct.
